It’s been close to two years since I made a list of my 50 favorite anime in January, 2010. Since then I’ve seen quite a few new series and my current tastes are a bit different. So I figured it’s time for me to update my list of favorite anime, seeing what new favorites I have and how my feelings for old favorites have changed…

Almost all of the seasonal anime I had been watching since spring ’11 ended this season, so I had room to pick up quite a few fall ’11 titles. There are a lot of sequels I’m interested in this season, as well as some brand new series. Now that the first couple of weeks of the fall 2011 anime have passed, how have the shows I’m watching fared?…

Anyone who’s seen at least a few anime that take place in a modern day high school, or even middle school, have probably noticed something different about the appearance (besides the school uniforms) of the students there compared to those in America and perhaps other Western countries – specifically what I had in mind was a lack of physical beautifying such as make-up, hair dying, jewelry, and tattoos…

I published my first post on Mainichi Anime Yume on October 1st, 2006 (a long and rather rant-filled review of a Pokemon spin-off game of all things), and officially made the blog public on October 7th, 2006. It’s certainly been a worthwhile experience running an anime blog for so long. I’d say this past year of blogging has been one of the best…

There’s certainly no shortage of cats in anime, whether as major or minor characters. Disregarding the ever popular cat-girl, I can list quite a few anime cats off the top of my head. When it comes to anime dogs however…I have more trouble thinking of some. I wonder why that is since, according to a recent Japan Times article, both cats and dogs seem to be equally popular in Japan as pets, with dogs outnumbering cats in some cases…

Seven anime I’ve been watching this past spring and summer seasons have come to an end. Normally I like to give each series its own review post, especially for the longer shows. But I also like to review anime when it’s fresh in my mind, and if I wait to review each one individually, it’ll take me longer than I’d like to get them all done. So instead I opted to make a single post here for the last four spring/summer 2011 anime I’m going to review. Since there’s four of them, I tried to keep each review concise while still getting out everything I want to say…

My friend f0calizer and I were discussing this topic the other day. We’re both interested in meeting other anime fans and finding social gatherings of fans in our area. However, we’re constantly puzzled by the same thing – the lack of female anime fans, not just at anime clubs and such, but within the anime blogsphere as well…

Like last season’s [C] and AnoHana, this passing summer season of anime included a sci-fi and slice-of-life Noitamina series; No.6 and Usagi Drop respectively. With the typical Noitamina run of just 11 episodes, how did the two vastly different shows fare?…
