The anime art gallery that is my room

null

For the past ten years or so, a little quirk of mine has been to cover every inch of my room with anime pictures and products. On a previous post, I shared photos of how my room looked last year. Since then, I’ve hung up new pictures, rearranged old pictures, and displayed new goodies. So I decided to once again share photos of my anime immersed room, the “2009 edition” XD

Sorry, my digital camera is old and cheap so the photos are not pristine quality. Also, a new thing I tried to do with my room this year is to put pictures from the same anime series in the same general area of my room. See if you can spot this trend as you look at the photos =P

My bed with my Inuyasha throw blanket on it and Fushigi Yuugi and Haruhi scrolls hanging above. You can see badges from all the anime conventions I’ve been to hanging next to the window.

Since I didn’t have enough wall space to display that poster featuring 492 pokemon, I decided to hang it over one of the window, ’cause I never open that window anyway. It actually looks pretty cool when the sunlight goes through it =) More pictures (most notably, an amazing Super Smash Bros. Brawl fan art), as well as an old Pokemon jigsaw puzzle of mine, can be seen below.

My (very old) desk. I love my Kagami plushie! ^.^ You can see my DSi (with its fancy Pokemon cover) off to the right. And I decided to take out those Pokemon figures on the left for old times’ sake (I bought them almost ten years ago XD) Oh, and that anteater is the mascot for my university.

A display case of all my anime DVD collections. Not too many (I’m poor ~.~) but it’s a work in progress. More goodies on top of the display, and the majority of my Haruhi posters are behind it.

My closet doors. The one on the right is obviously the Pokemon door, while the one on the left is sort of mixed (mostly Shana and Inuyasha). The medals and cords hanging on the left side are awards I got in college.

My bookshelf. Each year I get a different anime import calender, and this year’s is Shakugan no Shana, which you can see hanging above. Kannagi and Evangelion posters, and then some Lucky Star figures on the shelf. As for the books themselves, the top shelf has manga and books by Japanese authors, the second shelf has more books by Japanese authors as well as books about animals (my other big hobby), and the third shelf has Calvin & Hobbes comics, anime art books, and Japanese study books.

A corner of my room (with the door closed). Code Geass and other posters, as well as my Naruto jigsaw puzzle (larger image of the puzzle can be seen here).

I still have yet to afford a new flatscreen TV XP My Wii is next to the TV, and the games are below. You can see my karaoke machine on the second shelf. The third shelf holds my Inuyasha and Cardcaptor Sakura DVDs, then my old GameCube games. Oh, and you can see a larger version of my 1,000-piece Haruhi jigsaw puzzle here.

My computer area, where I spend about 90% of my spare time working on this blog, surfing the web, and watching anime XD You can see my little Chopper shrine on the top shelf next to the printer. Guess it’s no secret who my favorite One Piece character is!

A close-up of the computer area. My figure collection, and my laptop in the middle, which I use to watch anime because it has an HD screen. And of course, my adorable K-ON! mousepad ^^

To the right of my computer, more posters! XD Disney pictures, pretty much the only non-anime decorations in my room, can be seen near the bottom. One is a small puzzle (larger version can be seen here) and the other is a Disneyland postcard.

And lastly, the entrance to my room, with the door open this time. Of course there’s posters on both sides of the door XD

Well, that’s basically how my room looks now. Who knows if it’ll change much next year or not ~_^ It’ll be a pain if/when I have to move XP (though I’ve been living in the same house for 18+ years). But anyway, let me know what you think!

No Comments… read them or add your own.

  1. Jura says:

    Too many females.

  2. Travis says:

Cool. Kind of reminds me of how I decorated my living room until I moved and became too lazy to everything back up. For some reason I never did anything with my bedroom… well, I guess until recently when I used the Clannad bedsheets as huge posters.

  3. Jan Suzukawa says:

Continuing on Jura’s thought – not enough guys, bishonen, mecha, fight scenes, or things blowing up in gigantic explosions for my taste, but… to each her own. ;) I saw an anime website once that held a contest for most anime-decorated room. You have to enter your room in this contest if you ever come across it, I bet you’d win.

  4. Yumeka says:

Yeah, I think there are generally 3 kinds of anime decor; for guys, series with a lot of cute female characters, or for the more masculine types, lots of shounen and mecha series. And for girls, usually male-heavy bishounen and shoujo series. Not sure why I tend to like the shows with more female-heavy casts =P But since I also have Code Geass, One Piece, Bleach, Pokemon, and FMA among others, I think I’m sort of well mixed =P But yeah, to each their own.

  5. Liza says:

I’m really jealous. That’s a lot of anime! I only have a Pokemon figure collection and an Ichigo plushie

  6. Koji Oe says:

When I see other people’s room I can’t help but think, “NEEEEEEEEEEEEEERD” But my room isn’t all that better. Hahah…

You definitely have more posters and such than I do though. Not much of a figure collector huh, Yumeka?

  7. Yumeka says:

It’s only been about a year since I got into collecting figures, so that’s why my collection is pretty small. I can’t afford to buy them very often, but hopefully my collection will grow as time goes by =P

  8. Tsukasa-chan says:

I want your room!!!! My place is pathetic compared to yours…all I have is a Misuzu Kamio, Fuko Ibuki, and Haruhi Suzumiya figure, some Japanese imported kawaii erasers (I know that sounds pretty dumb), a fruits basket poster, some pokemon posters and plushies, a bookshelf with about 50 volumes of manga, a shelf with all of my anime DVDs, and a collage of my favorite anime pictures. I want to expand my collection so bad, but I’m only in middle school and am too young to get a job…

  9. Ray says:

That is an awesome room. Wish I could be as well balanced in anime stuff as you are.

  10. Nanica says:

I just saw your pictures on ANN. Thank you very much for posting them there! Your room looks great!

I was wondering if I could ask a question. Image number 8 from the top shows an interesting Bleach poster (with Ichigo, Rukia, Renji and Orihime) that I’ve never seen anywhere before. Could you tell me where you got it?

    Thanks again!

  11. Midnightcoast says:

I’m really impressed. I would have loved a collection like that. ( I dabble from time to time in drawing up artwork) Unfortunately I don’t have the wallspace. My room is dominated by a huge bookcase an entertainment center and the computer desk. My collection is mostly books, some dvds and a few (very few) figurines.

  12. Yumeka says:

    @Nanica

That poster is one of the pages from the Japanese imported Bleach 2007 calendar. It’s the page for September/October, but the Code Geass poster below it is covering the dates. Here’s a larger scan of it.

That particular calendar will probably be hard to find now since 2007 is long over, but you can order those kinds of large calendar posters each year from web sites such as CD Japan and Yes Asia.

  13. Christian says:
