The second series of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni finally begins! It’s been over 9 months since I finished watching the first series so my memories of some of the details are a bit foggy, but I remember the main events and gist of the story well enough. What started off as a seemingly average anime with stereotypical characters quickly turned into one of the most complex, intricate, and suspenseful horror/mystery series’ I’ve ever seen. The original Higurashi series won me over after the first few episodes, and although Higurashi Kai is starting off a little slow, I’m sure more suspense and mystery aren’t far behind…

When I first heard the name of this series, I thought “Wow, an anime version of a Shakespeare play? This I gotta see!” But then after reading the synopsis and finding out that it wasn’t really a rendition of the play, rather, it just used the same general setting and characters, I still figured it sounded interesting enough to check out. And surprisingly, out of the three new spring ‘07 series’ I’ve been watching so far, I think this one is my favorite ^^

And here’s the second of the new spring ‘07 anime I’m managing to squeeze into my limited free time, El Cazadar (de la Bruja). After reading about the story, it sounded interesting, though nothing that special. But I decided to check it out anyway…and so far, I like it. I’m skeptic as to whether or not it’ll be able to keep up its coolness, or if it’ll eventually fall into a predictable formula. But I’m enjoying it in the meantime…I can tell it’s a very difficult series to judge based on just two episodes, but I’m gonna try anyway ^^

So here it is, the first of the new spring ‘07 series’ I started watching. ::sigh:: there’s just too much new anime to check out, and not enough free time! =P So as usual, I had to pick out only a handful of the new spring series’ that I feel I’ll have time to watch and keep up with. But after watching the first two episodes of Hayate the Combat Butler, I’m glad this was one of them ^^

Blood+ started airing on Adult Swim about 3 weeks ago. I had never seen the series before, and it sounded kind of interesting, so I decided to check it out. I’m not a big fan of vampire/extremely “dark” series’. I’ve seen the first few episodes of Hellsing and Trinity Blood, and it’s not that I disliked them, I just didn’t get into them enough to want to keep watching them. But after watching the first three episodes of Blood+, I’m happy to report that I like it a lot more.

After checking out the first two videos of AnimeTV, I have to say that it looks like it has potential. There hasn’t been any industry authorized show like this yet, so if it were to be brought to actual television, I have a feeling it would do pretty good. I doubt it would become as immensely popular as an actual hit anime show like Naruto or Bleach, but I think it would do good among mainstream American fans.

Well, after almost 2 years of the Naruto anime being stuck in a rut of inferior filler episodes, it’s finally getting back on track with the manga…

I didn’t think I’d be able to cram this series into the very limited amount of free time I have between work, school, and keeping up with the other anime I’m watching. But everyone says it’s good so I decided to check it out(and I now officially have no more room for any new series’ until I finish one I’m currently watching, LOL.) Luckily only 11 fansubbed episodes have been released so far, so I’m not too far behind(I just finished watching episode 6.) To tell the truth, I’m not that thrilled with the series so far. But it has been getting progressively better since the first couple of episodes, so I’m willing to give it a chance…

Mushishi has been on my computer in my “anime-to-watch” folder for a while before I finally sat down and marathoned the first 4 episodes last night. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the series, and after watching these few episodes, I think it definitely deserves the praise it gets…

Asatte no Houkou is one of the other new series’ I started watching recently. I picked this one just because it sounded “different.” And it is, but in a good way…
