A certain magical Index that’s lacking

About a year ago I watched To Aru Kagaku no Railgun and found it very well written and enjoyable. I knew it was a side-story of another series, To Aru Majutsu no Index, which I hadn’t yet seen. Since I liked Railgun so much, I decided to watch both seasons of Index soon after. And now, after completing season 2, I feel that something was definitely lacking…

My 5 favorite anime of 2008

Although I only had time to watch a small handful of all the anime that aired in 2008, I enjoyed pretty much all the ones I watched. But of course, while some simply came and went, there were a few that really stood out and reminded me why I like anime so much. So I decided to kick off the new year with a look back at the five 2008 anime that I liked the most…

Kannagi review

Kannagi wasn’t on my original list of “to watch” anime for the fall ’08 season, but once I saw how popular it became, I just had to see what all the fuss was about! XD So I spent the past few days of my winter break marathon-ing through the 13 episodes. And now that I’ve seen it all, I must admit that Kannagi is deserving of its popularity…

Clannad – After Story: the halfway mark review

Since I enjoyed Visual Art’s/Key’s other two series, Air and Kanon, and since I adore KyotoAni’s work, I decided to start watching Clannad when the first season aired last fall. Unlike Air and Kanon, Clannad not only got an additional OVA, but now it’s going through its sequel this fall with Clannad – After Story. And luckily, 12 episodes into Clannad AS, and I’m happy to report that it has all the charm and emotion that made the first season so good…

Toradora!: the halfway mark review

As of now, I am 12 episodes through Toradora!, which is roughly half of this 25 episode series. When news of this anime based on award-winning light novels first came out, it was one of the most highly anticipated series for the fall 2008 season. So I decided to watch it and see if it was worth all the hype. And it didn’t take more than the first two episodes for me to get hooked…

My fall season ’08 picks

As I count down the last few weeks of my summer break, I’m also counting the anime I’m planning to watch this fall season. I think I might be watching more anime this coming season than I ever did before, mostly because of all the sequels that are coming out. Since I’ll be back at university soon and will not have time to post much about these shows, I figured I’d give a quick rundown now of what I’m planning to watch…

Slayers Revolution first impressions

After 10 years the long-awaited sequel to the third season of the Slayers anime has finally arrived. Slayers will always hold a special place in my heart not just because it’s a great series’ but because it was one of the first anime I really got into back in the early 2000s. There’s a handful of Slayers episodes that I think are some of the funniest anime episodes of all, and the series also has a great cast of characters and an interesting fantasy setting. It’s been years since I’ve watched Slayers (though I’ve watched all three seasons many times in the past), and after watching the first two episodes of Slayers Revolution, waves of nostalgia quickly came over me…
