Kyoukai no Rinne first impressions

Kyoukai no Rinne is the newest manga series by the famous manga-ka Rumiko Takahashi. The first chapter of Rinne came out less than a year after Takahashi finally finished her longest running series, Inuyasha…

My fall season ’08 picks

As I count down the last few weeks of my summer break, I’m also counting the anime I’m planning to watch this fall season. I think I might be watching more anime this coming season than I ever did before, mostly because of all the sequels that are coming out. Since I’ll be back at university soon and will not have time to post much about these shows, I figured I’d give a quick rundown now of what I’m planning to watch…

Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu first impressions

I wasn’t planning on watching this series, but after reading the synopsis it sounded like a fun and unique story so I decided to give it a try…

World Destruction first impressions

World Destruction is the latest series by Production I.G., set for a 13 episode run. So far I’ve seen two episodes, and although I don’t have too much to say about it yet, it piqued my interest right away…

Slayers Revolution first impressions

After 10 years the long-awaited sequel to the third season of the Slayers anime has finally arrived. Slayers will always hold a special place in my heart not just because it’s a great series’ but because it was one of the first anime I really got into back in the early 2000s. There’s a handful of Slayers episodes that I think are some of the funniest anime episodes of all, and the series also has a great cast of characters and an interesting fantasy setting. It’s been years since I’ve watched Slayers (though I’ve watched all three seasons many times in the past), and after watching the first two episodes of Slayers Revolution, waves of nostalgia quickly came over me…

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai eps 1 to 2 review

null
The second series of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni finally begins! It’s been over 9 months since I finished watching the first series so my memories of some of the details are a bit foggy, but I remember the main events and gist of the story well enough. What started off as a seemingly average anime with stereotypical characters quickly turned into one of the most complex, intricate, and suspenseful horror/mystery series’ I’ve ever seen. The original Higurashi series won me over after the first few episodes, and although Higurashi Kai is starting off a little slow, I’m sure more suspense and mystery aren’t far behind…

Romeo x Juliet eps 1 to 2 review

When I first heard the name of this series, I thought “Wow, an anime version of a Shakespeare play? This I gotta see!” But then after reading the synopsis and finding out that it wasn’t really a rendition of the play, rather, it just used the same general setting and characters, I still figured it sounded interesting enough to check out. And surprisingly, out of the three new spring ’07 series’ I’ve been watching so far, I think this one is my favorite ^^

El Cazador eps 1 to 2 review

And here’s the second of the new spring ’07 anime I’m managing to squeeze into my limited free time, El Cazadar (de la Bruja). After reading about the story, it sounded interesting, though nothing that special. But I decided to check it out anyway…and so far, I like it. I’m skeptic as to whether or not it’ll be able to keep up its coolness, or if it’ll eventually fall into a predictable formula. But I’m enjoying it in the meantime…I can tell it’s a very difficult series to judge based on just two episodes, but I’m gonna try anyway ^^

Hayate the Combat Butler eps 1 to 2 review

So here it is, the first of the new spring ’07 series’ I started watching. ::sigh:: there’s just too much new anime to check out, and not enough free time! =P So as usual, I had to pick out only a handful of the new spring series’ that I feel I’ll have time to watch and keep up with. But after watching the first two episodes of Hayate the Combat Butler, I’m glad this was one of them ^^

Blood+ eps 1 to 3 review

Blood+ started airing on Adult Swim about 3 weeks ago. I had never seen the series before, and it sounded kind of interesting, so I decided to check it out. I’m not a big fan of vampire/extremely “dark” series’. I’ve seen the first few episodes of Hellsing and Trinity Blood, and it’s not that I disliked them, I just didn’t get into them enough to want to keep watching them. But after watching the first three episodes of Blood+, I’m happy to report that I like it a lot more.
