I know last post I said I was gonna have a couple of editorials before my spring first impressions, but seeing as how I’ve watched two episodes of all but one of my spring anime picks, I decided to get this post out now =) Compared to the winter season, there are a lot more shows I’m interested in this spring!…
My 5 favorite anime of 2014
It’s once again time for me to look back on all the anime I watched this year and decide which 5 were my favorites. Some years it’s easy for me to pick, other years it’s not so easy. I actually didn’t watch quite as much anime in 2014 as I did in previous years due to being busy with work, school, and other hobbies, so it wasn’t too difficult to narrow down my favorites this time…
First impressions of the fall ’14 anime I’m watching
A few older anime I’ve recently watched
As many of you know, since 2007 I’ve mostly been watching seasonal anime and rarely start watching older, completed titles. While last year I decided to rewatch a lot of my favorite series, this year I’ve been trying to watch older series I hadn’t seen before in additional to seasonal ones. For this post, I wanted to talk about four such anime I’ve watched over the past bunch of months. These aren’t full-on reviews so much as my general thoughts about each one…
Fate/Zero season 2 review
I watched Fate/Zero without having seen Fate/Stay Night, which perhaps makes my impression of it somewhat unique. All that I said in my review of the first season still applies to season 2 as far as the diverse cast of characters, engrossing fantasy plot, and noticeably good animation. So I’m gonna try not to focus on those elements as much as review specifically what happens in season 2…
Spring ’12 anime thus far
The spring ’12 anime season started rather late this year, with some series already five episodes in and others only two or three. Because of this, I was debating whether to make my seasonal “first impressions” post or not. But since I ended up watching more shows than I originally intended, and I have a lot to say about them, I decided to go ahead with it despite being further into some shows than others…
Anime’s three “building” categories
An interesting thought occurred to me recently in terms of how anime series are structured. It seems that most anime series focus on “building” one out of three narrative aspects – either building the story, building the characters, or building the world. Some focus on two out of three, a few manage to focus equally on all three – but it’s intriguing to think about which of the three each series is most concerned with…
Finishing up fall-winter anime and picking up spring ’12 anime
I’m a little late with posting my thoughts about the last fall ’11/winter ’12 anime I finished watching, as well as picking what anime I’ll be watching this spring season. To get them done faster, I decided to put both on one post…
Finishing up fall ’11 reviews: Working’!!, Fate/Zero, and Haganai
Before the year is over I want to review the three one-cour fall ’11 series I recently finished watching. I don’t have a ton to say about each so I decided to put them all on one post…
The AniBloggers Choice Awards: my top 12 anime of 2011
Since 2008, I’ve been selecting my top 5 anime of that year and posting about them on the blog around New Year’s. This year however, I’m trying something new with Kiddtic’s AniBloggers Choice Anime Awards project. Instead of picking only five 2011 series, I’m picking twelve, as well as an overall series of the year and licensor of the year…
