Fall ’13 reviews part 2 and my top 5 anime of 2013

I decided to combine the rest of my 2013 anime reviews and my list of top 5 anime of 2013 into one post. The winter 2014 season is already upon us after all, so I need to finish up all the 2013 stuff and start checking out all the new shows! XD So much anime and blogging to do and so little time…

My 12 moments of anime for 2013

Credit to linked pixiv user

As I’ve been doing since 2009, I’m once again participating in the anime blogsphere’s “12 Moments of Anime” project where we post our personal twelve biggest anime-related moments of the year throughout the month of December. As always due to lack of time, I’ll be posting my 12 moments all on one post here…

My 5 favorite anime of 2012

A little late this year but I couldn’t miss out on every anime blogger’s obligatory post of picking their favorite anime of the year. Since 2008 I’ve been picking 5 favorite anime from that year, except for last year where opted to participate in the AniBloggers Choice Awards and picked 12 favorites of the year. This year however I decided to go back to my previous tradition of only picking 5 favorites…

First impressions of the fall ’12 anime I’m watching

Another season of anime has come once again and again I’ve selected a few of those to watch throughout the coming months. And as always, I wanted to share my first impressions of those series after watching the first 2-3 episodes of each…

Finishing up fall-winter anime and picking up spring ’12 anime

I’m a little late with posting my thoughts about the last fall ’11/winter ’12 anime I finished watching, as well as picking what anime I’ll be watching this spring season. To get them done faster, I decided to put both on one post…

The paradox of an anime’s quality versus its popularity

In a recent post on Anime September, Alterego9 brings up a great point about a paradox that exists between our individual view of an anime and how popular it is among the general populace. When an anime that we really love is also very well received among overall anime fandom (which can be seen through merchandise sales and social networking discussion), we rejoice in this and use it to further bolster our belief that it truly is a good anime. However, when an anime we really love isn’t popular among overall anime fandom, we say the reason for that is because the overall fandom has bad taste and so popularity is irrelevant when determining quality. It’s a very interesting paradox and one that I felt like examining further…

The AniBloggers Choice Awards: my top 12 anime of 2011

Since 2008, I’ve been selecting my top 5 anime of that year and posting about them on the blog around New Year’s. This year however, I’m trying something new with Kiddtic’s AniBloggers Choice Anime Awards project. Instead of picking only five 2011 series, I’m picking twelve, as well as an overall series of the year and licensor of the year…

First impressions of the fall ’11 anime I’m watching

Almost all of the seasonal anime I had been watching since spring ’11 ended this season, so I had room to pick up quite a few fall ’11 titles. There are a lot of sequels I’m interested in this season, as well as some brand new series. Now that the first couple of weeks of the fall 2011 anime have passed, how have the shows I’m watching fared?…

My picks for the fall ’11 season

The list of anime scheduled to air in a few weeks for the fall 2011 season has been out for a while, but I’m just now sitting down and deciding which ones I’ll be watching. Nine anime I’m currently watching will end by fall, so I reckon I’ll pick up that number of shows to watch, give or take a couple…

Bakuman review

Bakuman is one of the few weekly shonen series that’s devoid of intense, bloody battles and characters with fantastical super powers. Rather, Bakuman tackles the shonen theme of plucky young boys trying to achieve their goals in a more realistic setting. Instead of wanting to become hokage or “King of the Pirates,” our heroes simply want to become manga-ka…
