Tomorrow I’m heading off for my four-day stay at Anime Expo 2008 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. To avoid the horrendous check-in lines of Day 1, I went to the LACC today, Day 0, to pick up my badge. So now with badge and suitcase in hand, I’m ready to head off early tomorrow morning for downtown LA. This is the first time the 16 year old con will be held in LA so it should definitely be an interesting experience. I’m sure many people who went to AX last year will agree that it was one of the most disorganized and possibly worst cons ever. So I’m giving AX the benefit of the doubt this year and hoping that they’ve learned from their mistakes in 2007 and will make this LA con a great one =)
Unlike AX ‘07 where I spent most of my time at concerts or the dealers’ hall (or waiting in futile lines >_<), this year I plan to attend more workshops and panels (and possibly the AMV contest or Masquerade). However I usually get distracted by seeing friends or buying goods at the dealers’ so I end up missing a lot of my planned panels =P But I’m hoping to be more diligent this year as there’s a few panels that I’m really interested in.
Anyway, I doubt I’ll be on the Internet during AX so I won’t be able to answer e-mail or moderate blog comments for the next four days. But you can definitely expect a lot of con coverage and photos when I get back! =D

I’m not big on Easter at all but it gives me an excuse to post this adorable picture XD
Anyway, yes I’m on spring break now so I’m briefly taking my sites off of hiatus to do some much needed work on them. Unfortunately my spring break is only about a week long but I’m going to work on the sites, especially the main AnimeYume site, as much as I can during that time. So check back soon for updates =)

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post about how, within the past few years, anime and manga have been making their way into the world of US education, with the rise of many anime and manga-related college courses, whether it be in the field of Japanese/East Asian Cultures, Film Study, Art, Literature, or even Philosophy. Anime and manga are finally starting to get recognition as viable areas of study in many different fields. Now that I’m about to continue my education at a university, I was looking around for any anime/manga related courses I could find. I wasn’t having much luck until I unknowingly stumbled upon an anime/manga extension course that looks really promising…

Yesterday I attended the Pokemon Battle Revolution tournament that was being held by Game Stop stores across the USA. It seemed a bit disorganized at first…apparently all Game Stops were supposed to be having it, but two of the three closest to me did not have it (for ridiculous reasons, like not being able to get the key to their Wiis). I attended the one in Canoga Park, California, located in the Topanga mall. Although I didn’t win, it was still fun. It’s been years since I went to a Pokemon tournament so it’s nice to see that there are still a lot of dedicated Poke-fans like me ^^

I finally got around to posting my coverage, photos, and video clips of my four-day stay at Anime Expo 2007. I wrote about everything I did at the con, things I liked about it and things I disliked about it. My photo/video collection isn’t as impressive as most but it’s something. Well, tomorrow morning I’ll be up bright and early, carpooling with my friends to Anime Expo 2007! This is the first time I’ll be spending all four days at the con (and only my second time attending AX). It’s sure to be quite a memorable experience ^_^ I’ll be going with my friend and fellow anime blogger, pkjd from moetron. We’ll be attending the anticipated SOS Brigade Invasion Tour concert as well as lots of other great events. Also, The Anime Blog is hosting a gathering of anime bloggers from all over =) You can find details about the meeting here. Unfortunately the time overlaps with the SOS Brigade concert but I’ll see if I can make it last minute ^^
If you’re interested in trying to find me at AX, here’s a photo of me (I’ll probably be wearing that same kimono at some point at the con). If you find me, don’t be afraid to come over and say hi ^^ I always enjoy meeting visitors to my site and talking with other anime fans.
Obviously, since I’ll be away at AX from June 29th until July 2nd, I won’t be able to answer e-mail, write posts, or moderate comments during these 4 days. Sorry for any inconvenience. But I’ll be back soon with more posts and of course, in-depth AX coverage! XD

The Anime Expo 2007 web site finally posted lists and descriptions of all the events that are going on during each of the four days. So today I started planning my schedule, taking note of all the events that I want to attend. I’m going for the full four days at AX this year, along with my friend pkjd from moetron.

Happy Earth Day, from Mainichi Anime Yume! I know Earth Day isn’t as big a day as, let’s say Thanksgiving or Easter, but me being a nature lover as well as an anime lover, I think it’s important ^.^ To me, everyday is Earth Day!
