Name that anime #3

Credit to linked pixiv user

First off, my apologies for the lack of posts. These past couple of weeks have been filled with schoolwork, social events, and other distractions (like Pokemon ORAS!) But I didn’t want to go more than two weeks without a new post, so I decided to just post something easy and fell back on one of my quick but fun blogging series – name that anime!…

Like my previous two “Name that anime” posts, below I posted 12 screencaps from various not-so-well-known anime that I’ve seen but I don’t think too many of you have, and I want you to try naming them in the comments. In the next couple of days, I’ll edit this post with the answers. Enjoy, and I promise I’ll be back next time with something better ;)

    34. God’s Memo-pad
    36. Megaman NT Warrior

For the manga, the art looks a lot like Saito Chiho’s, but I have no idea what it is. Bah!

    • Yumeka says:

Wow, I can’t believe you knew all of those except two XD (a little surprised you didn’t know #26 though). You’ve seen too much anime (and remember too much, LOL)

Try again on the manga =P

      • Myna says:

Haha I know. Honestly, half of them I knew just by seeing pictures and promo art and stuff. I’ve never seen Shangri La or Digi Charat.

And ugh, sola. I recognized it, but didn’t remember. Probably because I really didn’t like sola. :P Never read Miracle Girls either.

  3. Kittychan says:

    25 is DNangel.
    Is the manga Miracle Girls?

  4. jimmy says:

    25. D.N.Angel or however you typeset it.
    26. Definitely Sailor Moon
    27. That Michiko and Hatchin thing?
    28. Not Slayers, is it?
    29. Tokyo Mew Mew?
    30. No idea
    31. Chi’s Sweet Home?
    32. It’s clearly Shakugan no Shana, but then it clearly isn’t. How vexing.
    33. Excel Saga
    34. Kamisama no Memochou
    35. No idea
    36. Something Digimon?
Manga: Miracle Girls. I watched the anime because ANN’s plot summary sounded bonkers and because Norio Wakamoto played a character called Mr. X. It wasn’t half as amazing as that information made it sound, but I did like the show, and Mikage and Tomomi were really solid characters. I also loved the general 80s-ness of the show (my pet theory is that 80s Western culture took a decade to trickle into anime and manga, which is how you get those fantastic David Bowie-esque character designs in 90s OVAs).
    Donna toki mo♪
Futari ja nakya dame na no♪

    • Yumeka says:

Gonna have to say “wrong” on #26 through #32 (remember, I’m trying to pick anime that aren’t well known, so I wouldn’t pick something like Sailor Moon). But you did get #33 and #34 correct…and you got the bonus XD Back when I used to read manga by borrowing graphic novels from friends, Miracle Girls was one I read. I kinda remember the premise and overall shojo vibes, but that’s it…it’s been a long time! I didn’t even know they made an anime adaptation.

      • jimmy says:

Ah, well Norio Wakamoto didn’t voice act in the manga, so that’s one point in favour of the anime. ANN mostly described the last arc, with the princesses and the criminal organisations and stuff, and I didn’t realise most of the show would be more everyday twins-with-ESP antics. Still good, though.

Oh, it was Sola. I’ve actually seen that one, but I suppose I didn’t care to remember it. I didn’t think Excel Saga was all that obcsure, though.

I think it’d be fun to do one of these, but since I don’t have a blog or anyone who’d read it, it be more than a bit self-indulgent.

  5. To fill in one gap from the comments above, I’d say #26 is sola.

  6. Soran says:

    25: Dark angel
    26: Sola
    27:Shangri-la
28:watched it in italian, and it was called flint a spasso nel tempo(flint journey through time)
    29: Digi-charat
    30:Seto no hanayome
    32:Kuroami
    33:Excel Saga
    34: Kamisama no chou
    35: Super gals
    36:Megaman NT warriors

i don’t know the manga but the art reminds me of one about two twins,a boy and a girl. The boy to be able to be always with his sister, crossdressed as a girl and attends the same school as his sister

    • Yumeka says:

Correct on all those! And the manga is actually about two twin girls…so a bit similar to what you described, except with psychic powers instead of crossdressing.

  7. Ana says:

    25: DNAngel
    26: …
    27: Shangri-la
28: Time Detective Flint? Something like that
    29: Di Gi Charat

    31: Balto
    32: Kurokami
    33: Excel Saga
34: Kami no Noto (Kami no Memocho? something like that)
    35: Grrlz
    36: Rockman.exe (Megaman Battle Network)
    Bonus: ….

Okay, yeah, I have no idea for a bunch of these.

  8. Kal says:

Only got #27… Wow, everytime you do one of these, it reminds me of so many anime I have not seen :P It’s good to be busy, and don’t worry if you delay a bit with posts. Real life comes first, and we’ll still be here :)

  9. Tara says:

    25. DN Angel
    27. Shangri-la

Yup those were the only ones I got xp I’ve seen a bit of Kami-sama no Memochou but none of the others, although Exel Saga is somewhere on my to watch list.
    Anywho, this was fun ^^

  10. Overlord-G says:

    Wow. I only know
    #34: Kamisama no Memochou.
    #33: Excel Saga
