Kemono no Souja Erin 2010 calendar scans

Scans (and a mini-review) of the 2010 Kemono no Souja Erin calendar that I recently purchased…

To be honest, I was a little disappointed with the calendar. All the other anime imported calendars I’ve viewed over the years have original, calendar-exclusive artwork. But out of the seven pages of the KnSE calendar, five of the pictures were copied from the DVD covers, and one, the March/April page, was simply copied from the first promotional image of Erin. The only calendar-exclusive image is the calendar’s cover. Since there’s so little KnSE promotional art available already, I was really hoping NHK/Production I.G. would give us nice new images for the calendar of this terribly underrated series (I wanted at least one pretty picture of adult Erin and Lilan together). I wonder why they didn’t decide to make original calendar images like all the other anime calendars. Did they not have the time or money? Or perhaps, because KnSE is an anime that’s all about telling a beautiful story rather than catering to fans, they didn’t feel like catering to fans with new calendar pictures either?

But despite a little letdown, it’s still a nice, attractive calendar, especially for someone like me whose been loving this series since it started airing back in January. As of now, the series will end its 50 episode run by the end of the year. I doubt there will be another KnSE calendar, but hopefully the creators behind this great show will release new artwork for it in the future.
