A PV that’s more or less a “condensed” version of the upcoming “The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya” movie is now streaming on YouTube via Lantis, the company producing the movie’s soundtrack. The five minute video features a slide-show of screen shots from the movie in chronological order, with background music from the soundtrack playing. The animation and everything else about the movie now seems more awesome than ever XD
UPDATE 01/22/10: Lantis removed the original PV and replaced it with a less spoiler-filled one (which also has some images not in the original). The video above is the new PV. The old one can currently be found on an unofficial YouTube channel. I’ve posted it below after the jump…
Above is the original PV with major spoilers, which shows images up to the very end of the movie. Still, without dialogue, it teases more than spoils.
This is quite a treat for us non-Japanese fans who may have to wait months before the movie becomes available to us. Hopefully we’ll continue to get more goodies for the movie =)

While we’re on the subject, I should also note that, due to request by the official company, Baka-Tsuki, the web site providing fan translations of the Haruhi novels, recently took down their English translations of the novels and will no longer be translating them (other languages are still available). So for those of you who haven’t yet read their translation of “The Disappearance” or the other later volumes, you may have to get them via Google cache.
UPDATE 01/23/10: I’ve just been informed that Baka-Tsuki’s translations are still available here on HaruhiSuzumiya.net.
Without B-T, I’m a little worried about who’s going to provide us with an English translation of volume 10 when it comes out.

I find this trailer very spoilerish… :)…and also a nice treat for overseas fans who have to wait a little bit longer…It is exciting…

Yeah, months of waiting before actually be able to see the movie make me sad.

Next time I go to a bookstore I’ll look for Spice & Wolf. The cover is kind of a shame since the books end up in the manga section anyway. But if everything else is faithful to the original I won’t have a problem.
They took down the novel translations? Wow, that was close… I finished reading Disappearance right on time. It really is a “light” novel, though; I burned through it in one afternoon.

Yeah, I can understand taking down the novels that have already had their official release, but taking down all of them, even ones that won’t be officially released months or even years from now? Shame. Glad I have them saved.
Hooray, you finally read it ^_^ What did you think? I guess now you know why everybody says it’s the best. It’s definitely the most suspenseful one at least. I think I still like the first novel, The Melancholy, the best, but Disappearance is probably second.
So now you’ll know what’s going on when you go see the movie in a couple of weeks. Did I mention I’m jealous ;)

I still haven’t watched any Haruhi yet. I just can’t bring myself to, though I’ve snagged the fansubs a while ago. There’s been so much fan-wanking that I can’t help but be disappointed either way. There’s no way it can live up to the hype even if it’s good and if it’s bad, I’m just going to be pissed off.
