When one journey ends, another begins…

Hi all, it’s been quite a while since I last posted…almost a year! For those of you who are still interested in Mainichi Anime Yume and any future content I may put out, I have an important announcement to make…

If anyone reading this now used to visit during my heyday of blogging from roughly 2009 to 2014 (though I started the blog in 2006, I didn’t update often until I graduated college 3 years later), you’re probably aware that I decided to take a hiatus in mid-2015, both due to starting a full time job and because I wasn’t quite as passionate about anime as I used to be (but, not wanting to lose my online voice completely, I’ve continued to be active on Twitter at least!) Two and a half years since then and I’ve managed to put out a few posts, but as time goes on it’s been getting increasingly difficult for me to get motivated to write on MAY.

Now even though I’ve been saying that I’m not as into anime as I used to be, I still love it and have watched some recent shows – this year I watched Dragon Maid, Youjo Senki, both seasons of Boku no Hero Academia, Kemono Friends, season 2 of Attack on Titan, and saw Your Name in theaters. Currently I’m watching Mahoutsukai no Yome and continuing the JP version of Pokemon Sun/Moon. I’ve enjoyed all these shows and highly doubt there will ever be a time where I’m not watching at least one or two anime. But I’m just not as motivated to write about anime specifically, especially in the kind of long, detailed review and editorial formats that I used to post.

But, since I’ve gone so long without expressing myself through blogging after doing so for years, I recently came to realize that I miss writing about things that interest me. It was nice taking a break from it and now I feel ready to write again! But the problem is that how and what I want to write about is not what Mainichi Anime Yume was intended for. Even though this yearning to write again has been brewing in me for a while now, I held off on it because I didn’t want to post a lot of non-anime material on a blog that I specifically designed for anime and thus has garnered followers who expect anime content (if anyone still follows it). It just didn’t feel right to start creating new content on a blog that’s been 90% anime-related for 11 years. So the solution I came up with was, well, create a brand new blog of course! Since I had time during my 4-day vacation for Thanksgiving, that’s just what I did. So please welcome Mainichi Anime Yume’s more liberated offspring, Yume Dimension.

If you’re wondering, yes, the content and style of Yume Dimension are going to be different from what I did on MAY. This is a much more general blog about my interests, specifically Disney and Pokemon (which are what I’m most into right now) as well as some video games, movies, animated shows, and other fictional mediums I like. This way, if my interests change as time goes on, they’ll still fit right in and I can keep writing without feeling like I need another new blog. There will certainly be anime related posts, but obviously it’s not the main theme. And the style is going to be focused on shorter, “spur of the moment” kind of posts that won’t take me hours to complete like some of my old posts did. To further illustrate, here’s the kinds of post styles I’ll be utilizing:

-text posts where I talk/ramble about a certain topic (typically not more than a few short paragraphs)
-image posts where I share photos of merchandise I buy, places/events I go to, etc.,
-updates of old posts – I plan to re-post a small handful of old posts from MAY (ones that are more general as opposed to anime-focused) with revisions based on new knowledge/opinions I have
-and really, just whatever random post I feel like, whether it’s just a picture, a couple of sentences, or a long editorial/review…I want to make it as easy and less restricting for myself as possible!

To get me started, I already made a few posts on Yume Dimension, which will give you a good idea of what to expect. I know it’s quite a change from what I did on MAY, but it’s the change I need to fulfill my passion for writing about my hobbies but not restricting myself to only a particular one, one that I’m not as motivated to write about as the others. If you care to follow me on Yume Dimension, I’d appreciate it! I’ll also be making my Tumblr an extension of the blog, posting the same content there (with some occasional posts exclusive to each). And of course, I’ll still be active on Twitter.

I apologize if anyone’s disappointed that I won’t be writing about anime here on MAY anymore (at least for now). There’s plenty of other great anime blogs out there to check out and MAY will still be available for anyone who wants to read its old posts…and if I ever get the urge to return to it someday (you never know). For the small handful of you who still follow me and my little spot here on the Internet, I appreciate your support. Don’t feel at all obligated to follow my new blog if it’s not something you’re interested in. It’ll take time to build a new audience after being away from blogging for so long, but I’m in no rush. As I always say, I write firstly to express myself, and if others want to read, that’s great, but it’s not what I do it for. Thanks again for visiting and I’ll either see you on Twitter, Tumblr, my new blog…or perhaps somewhere else, someday~!

Hey, welcome back, Yumeka! Sure, I’ve missed you! But I’m delighted that you are finding your own path for blogging. You shouldn’t have to apologize for anything!

I’ve always said, this is your blog, and you should make it whatever suits YOU! My own blog is a chaotic potpourri of whatever, and I’m not trying to please anyone but myself. Go for it, girl!

    • Yumeka says:

Thanks so much ^_^ I appreciate you checking up on me despite me more or less disappearing from the blogsphere.

Yeah, maybe some people blog for views and readers, but I think it’s important to enjoy what you’re writing first and foremost, without it seeming like a chore. Getting people to listen along the way is nice, but not my goal XD

Welcome back and it has been awhile. I have to admit that blogging about Anime can get very limited. I also pretty much ran out of ideas for editorials since there are so much one can really write about anime themes. With that, I started covering mostly Japanese video games and even gaming hardware, which are not anime related with a huge backlog.

I wish you luck on the new blog and I look forward to the content over there.

    • Yumeka says:

Hey, thanks for still following me after all this time ^_^ I haven’t forgotten how much you helped me with my site over the years! I’m sure I’ll be talking about anime occasionally on the new blog, but it’ll be among many other things (as you said, sticking to just one topic, even a complex one like anime, can be limiting).

Thanks again for visiting and good luck with blogging on your end too =)

Hi! Nice to see you’ll still be writing. As Amy said, you should write for yourself, and no one else. So I think it’s a good decision. I’ll check out your other blog as well :) Good luck with the new blog!

    • Yumeka says:

Thanks so much! You’ve been one of my most dedicated readers so I was wondering if you would still check up on me even though I’ve been away for so long ^_^ I appreciate your continued support~

Glad to see you back in the blogging world, even if you’re moving in a new direction! I look forward to reading your thoughts on Yume Dimension, anime, video games, Disney, or other!

At least you aren’t getting divorced. Scared me for a moment here with these post titles.

It’s been a while since I checked in with your blog but I’m kinda happy to see you’re still writing. My anime interests have also faded, even though I still enjoy it and watch the occasional show or movie life and other interests sorta push their way in. I have far too much time in front of a computer in my current job so expect to see me follow you to your new blog. Even if I don’t comment often I still love reading your thoughts on things and I’ll be happy to read them on other things (fakyas Disney fan4life!) :D
Happy holiday and new year wishes from your eternal lurker fan! ^^

    • Yumeka says:

I’m so flattered that you still read my blog and are still interested in my writing ^^,,, (didn’t know you were a Disney fan too!) I don’t know if you’re on Tumblr but I have been posting more on there (in addition to the new blog).

Thanks again and I hope you’ll come out of lurking from time to time and leave a comment XD (maybe once a year, lol.)

Super late, but just glad to see that you’re still around!

About the content, well I suppose your blog DOES have the name “anime” in it :p When I picked the name for my blog and figuring out what content I want to write, I envisioned I will definitely write beyond just anime (been a passionate gamer just as much as I’m in anime, for one) so I got lucky there. I’m confident I can keep writing on the same blog for years to come even, if I’m still able, of course.

    Anyway, welcome back :)

    • Yumeka says:

Thanks! You’ve always left insightful feedback on my blog over the years and I appreciate it ^_^ Hope you’ll find at least a few posts on my new blog worth your while!

This is random but every other year or so I’ll remember the days when I looked forward to your blog posts back when I was in high school/university. I used to decide which anime series I would try depending on your reviews and I also liked to see your anime convention posts and Japan trip back in the 2000s cause I didn’t have much of a chance to go myself.

Being an adult is a lot of work and I hope you’ve been well! Happy 2020 and cheers to the next decade :)

    • Yumeka says:

Sorry for the late response – thank you for leaving such a nice comment. I’m so glad you found worth in my posts back in the day. I’m doing well, just being a busy adults I guess (and spending more time on other social media platforms :3)
