The branches of anime fandom

Being an anime fan doesn’t usually mean you’re just a fan of watching anime. There are tons of “branches” of anime fandom – different aspects of the fandom that one can be a part of. The amount of such branches that exist in the fandom is quite amazing…

Below are all the branches of anime fandom that I could think of, divided by larger and smaller. The larger branches don’t necessarily have a higher number of dedicated fans than the smaller ones; they’re just more general and all-encompassing, and can include the smaller ones within them. I’ve also discussed my personal take on each and how I would rate myself as a participant of each, with 5 being a big part of it and 1 having little to no interest in it.

I know anime genres such as shojo and mecha could be branches themselves, but I decided to base the branches on anime activities that fans do rather than what kind of anime they like.

Larger branches

Fan art: I’ve always loved good fan art, but back in the day it was harder to find, so I wasn’t that into it. But since I discovered pixiv a few years ago, I’ve been totally into finding the best illustrations of series that I like. Nowadays I’ve been collecting more fan art images than official images (because many times they’re actually better). I used to draw a little of my own fan art in my early years of fandom, but I’ve since lost interest and would rather ogle over the work of artists way more talented than myself XD

So yes, I love fan art, but only when it’s exceptional and from a series I like at least a little.

My participation rating in this branch: 4

Fan fiction: I was briefly into fan fiction in my early years of fandom – read a few and wrote a few of my own. But I haven’t read or written any fan fics in quite a few years (nor do I have any desire to). My account on Fanfiction.net is over seven years old and it’s been forever since I’ve even logged on, much less updated anything.

My participation rating in this branch: 1.5

Blogging/running a web site: How could I forget my most favorite branch of the fandom? ^_^ The amount of hours I’ve spent working on the main AnimeYume.com web site for over eight years, and the blog for almost four years now, still amazes me. I can’t ever imagine life without a web site to work on.

My participation rating in this branch: 5

Manga: These branches are sort of interchangeable with anime and manga – since it’s an anime list, manga is one of the branches (if it was a manga list, anime would be in this spot).

I was more into manga in my early years of fandom (though most of what I read was borrowed from friends). I collected the English volumes of a few of my old favorite series like Tenchi Muyo! and Evangelion, but eventually lost interest since anime became more easily accessible. Now I prefer anime over manga and I’ll only have motivation to read manga if I have the actual book (can’t stand reading online) or if it’s a series I really like.

My participation rating in this branch: 2

Games: Like fan fics and manga, I was a bigger gamer when I was younger, before I discovered anime actually. I had tons of Sega Genesis and Game Gear games and was a big Sonic the Hedgehog fan. Pokemon soon took over as my favorite game series, and still is to this day eleven years later. I still enjoy other games from time to time, like Okami and Harvest Moon, or some online doujin games. I would probably play more games based on anime series I like if they were easily obtainable in the US. But besides Pokemon, I’m more or less a casual gamer – I haven’t played many of the big names like Final Fantasy and Mario since most of my free time is spent with anime.

My participation rating in this branch: 3

Anime music: It didn’t take long for anime music to become my most enjoyable music – ten years have gone by since I’ve heard my first anisong (“Forever,” the Jubei-chan ending) and it’s still music I listen to the most. I listen to anime songs in the car and while I work out, and I love singing them when I go to karaoke. I know a lot of people are into BGM too, but not so much with me – it depends on the series. I’ll sometimes listen to non-anime j-pop/j-rock, but not too often.

My participation rating in this branch: 4.5

Buying/collecting: This branch consists of people who are really into buying and collecting anime products, whether it’s figures, trading cards, DVD sets, artbooks, etc,. Since obtaining money for luxury items has always been a struggle for me, I haven’t been able to indulge in this too much – I buy a new DVD box set of anime maybe twice a year, and buy other products usually all at once at an anime convention. But if I ever start getting a better income, I’ll indulge in buying and collecting more =)

I’ll only buy DVD box sets of anime that I really like. Other than that, my favorite kinds of products to buy are character goods, especially figures, artbooks, posters, and pencil boards. I love covering my room in anime pictures and paraphernalia.

My participation rating in this branch: 4

Anime conventions: I didn’t go to my first anime convention until 2005. I loved it and have been trying to go to cons whenever I can. Lately, rather than go to many cons a year, I prefer to blow my savings at Anime Expo =P

My favorite things to do at anime cons are to buy things from the dealers, hang out with friends, take pictures of cosplay, and go to just a few events in a relaxed fashion. So I’d rather just chill instead of going to tons of popular events.

My participation rating in this branch: 4

Japanese language/culture: Another of my biggest branches, I studied Japanese formally at college from 2004-2009. It was my major at my university and I’ve taken many classes related to Japanese language, culture, history, and literature. Nowadays, self-study is all I can, but I do keep it up when I can. I’m not a major Japanophile (anime is still my #1 love) but it’s a big part of my life.

My participation rating in this branch: 4.5

Smaller branches

AMVs: I didn’t like AMVs much when I was first introduced to them in high school. It must have been because I only saw a few good ones and the rest were mediocre. I actually only liked comedy ones and wouldn’t care to check out others. I didn’t actively start searching for AMVs until just about four years ago. Now I love all genres of them (good ones at least) and check out many of the top rated ones on AMVs.org.

Despite ratings, I’ll only check out AMVs if they use animation from an anime I’ve watched. And I like the idea of making my own AMV but I don’t think I’ll ever have the patience or know-how for it.

My participation rating in this branch: 4

Doujinshi: I may have seen some doujinshi online over the years, but not lately and it’s not something I’m particularly interested in.

My participation rating in this branch: 1

Fansubbing: Though I’ve never been part of a fansubbing group, I’ve been following anime fansubs since 2005 and have gotten to know many of the prominent groups and the general feel of the community.

My participation rating in this branch: 3

Cosplay: I’ve never cosplayed myself but I like looking at and taking pictures of good cosplayers. I would like to try it sometime.

My participation rating in this branch: 2.5

Other animation: The word “anime” technically means all animation in Japanese. I’m definitely an animation fan, and besides anime, I mostly watch only animated movies (don’t even watch much TV anymore). Disney especially – I could watch those movies over and over and not get tired of them. I don’t watch any other non-Japanese cartoons since anime provides all the genres I want, but I’m interested in cartoons in general.

My participation rating in this branch: 3.5

Fandom of specific titles: This last branch refers to the many branches of fandom for specific titles, for example, Haruhiists, Narutards, Gundam enthusiasts, Touhou and Vocaloid fans, etc,. I don’t mean just liking these titles – you have to be a big fan. For example, I love One Piece but I wouldn’t consider it one of my fandom branches because I only watch the anime from time to time. If I was a big fan, I would diligently read the manga (and perhaps watch the anime too) and indulge in all things One Piece, which I don’t.

My specific fandoms: Haruhiist and Pokemon trainer

———

Looking at the list, I feel my top five branches of fandom are:

5. AMVs
4. Buying/collecting
3. Anime music
2. Japanese language/culture
1. Blogging/running a web site

Where to begin? I guess I’ll go in order in what I do…

Fanart-Coming from someone who stinks at drawing, I still love looking up fanart for the series that I love(espcially finding pics for the shippings I like in a certain show). It’s amazing to see the talent of people.

Fanfanction-This is my life. I’m a huge fanfiction author and reader. And somehow some of my stories that I write are pretty popular even though I tend to write on a whim pretty much. This is the side of anime that I’m dedicated to and I at least update once a week.

Manga-I love reading manga that I would be one of those people that sit in the bookstores and read on the ground and the libary that I had near my house had a lot of manga. However after coming to college it is reduced because I’m two hours away from home and there’s no good manga here and I hate reading online so this has dropped severly.

Games-I’m actually a pretty big gamer as I try to keep up with the latest trends in games and such. Pokemon is one othe big ones along with Zelda, Harvest Moon and some other things here and there.

Anime Music-When I first got into anime, songs were one of my favorite things and I started collecting the ops and eds. However, after I saw Noir and the BGM in that, I also began collecting BGMs if they were really good, like the BGM of InuYasha and Tsubasa Chronicles.

Buying/Collecting-I unforutnetly cannot buy as much as I would like but I do like collecting DVDs(box sets when I can) and figurines and posters and even some tv-shirts. If I had more money I would probably buy more.

Anime Conventions-I just went to my first convention in May(AnimeNext) and I love it. I’m already planned to go to three more coming up(MangaNext, Castle Point, and AnimeNext). I just fell in love with conventions.

Japanese Lanuage-I actually started taking japanese this year and it’s harder than it looked. Lol. But I really want to go to Japan and such so I’ll deal with it. That’s all I can pretty much say for this one.

AMVs- I used to make AMVs but recently I haven’t been inspired to and I only watch MADs mostly(if those count).

Cosplay-Where to begin? After cosplaying as Meiko(alice human sacrfice version) for AnimeNext, I love it. Making the outfits is just as fun as actually being the characters and it’s awesome to just be walking around and someone asking for a picture cause they like the costume. I’m actually working on four at the moment for the conventions coming up.

Other animations- Well, classic Disney is what comes to mind. I love all of those movies along with Avatar: The Last Airbender. I don’t watch TV much except for the Food Network channel.

Specific Fandoms: Vocaloid fan. I love watching new videos and such. And although I do like other series a lot(ex:Higurashi/Umineko) I’m not too crazy about finding new material and stuff.

Overall, I think I participate in Fanfiction, Games, and now Cosplay and Conventions.

  2. Yumeka says:

    @ Liza

Wow, you’re certainly into a lot of the branches XD I share just about all of them with you except for fan fiction, manga, cosplay, and Vocaloid.

  3. chikorita157 says:

When I first started blogging, I mainly participated on Anime Suki forums to start conversing with other fans… not just on Anime itself, but other array of topics. When I started to take Anime Blogging more seriously, especially the early and middle of this year, my forum activity declined… I still participate though, even if I don’t post in Anime series discussion forums since I don’t see the point considering I post all my thoughts about the episode on my blog. Also, the forums and other blogs is where I get my ideas for editorials even though I come up with the ideas myself.

In addition, I listen to Japanese music, most of it come from Anime itself even though a small fraction is just non-anime related jpop (This includes few of Lia’s, Kalafina’s and Maaya Sakamoto’s to name a few of them). I usually listen to them when I surf the internet on my Macbook Pro or iPad or doing homework. I usually get bored from doing homework if I don’t have any music on. On occasion, I review music, but not often since my blog isn’t a music reviewing site.

As for games, I play Pokemon, various RPGs, Mario Games and other genres that I don’t play often such as Audiosurf, Portal, Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2. When I am in college, I rarely play videogames unless I am completely bored. The reason being is that I am usually busy blogging, surfing the internet, chatting with other bloggers and doing homework.

For DVD collecting, I only buy series I like or want to watch if its available on DVD. Outside DVD collecting, I don’t collect anything else since I simply don’t have the money (because I am still in college).

Lastly, I do some programming work with related Anime Cataloging sites, namely Melative (Melative Library and MelScrobble) and the loathsome MyAnimeList (MAL Client OS X and MAL Updater OS X) that I love to hate. The reason I program these to make Melative easier to use… For MyAnimeList, the developer doesn’t seem to be interested in developing his MAL Updater for the Mac (since it’s my platform of choice). Thats why I decided to take up the work in making a list manager and scrobbler for Mac users who uses MyAnimeList to help fill the empty niche… even though MyAnimeList is complete hell to develop for.

This is pretty much what I do for the anime fandom… Any other anime related activities that I don’t mention is what I don’t do mainly because I lack interest or I don’t have the means to (e.g. Anime Conventions). So far, I have done enough for the fandom and I don’t think I need to do anymore… at least for now.

  4. Yumeka says:

    @ chikorita157

Doing programming work for anime cataloging sites is a unique part of the fandom to participate in. If I made a miscellaneous branch, it would be in there XD

I know about not being able to afford a lot of anime goods. I only buy the games and DVDs I really want and will usually just buy a few relatively inexpensive character goods here and there rather than many expensive box sets.

You live in NJ right? Ever thought of going to Anime Boston, Otakon, or New York Anime Fest?

  5. Justin says:

Oh boy, I’ll make it short…if I can!

Fan Art: I’d draw fan art, but I never get around to it sometimes; I ogle fan art, but sometimes I like it when artists come up with their own characters. 3

Fan Fiction: Nuh-uh. Never liked Fan Fiction, probably never will. 1

Blogging/Running a Site: Tiring, hectic (especially when some don’t do their jobs), but it feels good to talk about all things anime and do interviews! 4.5

Manga: I happen to be the reverse of you Yumeka: I started out as a big Anime Fan, able to enjoy contents on my TV screen–then all of a sudden I got addicted to Manga and Anime has been really tough to get into recently. I feel, and this probably differs for some, that I get more enjoyment out of turning pages than watching it on TV or online. And while ten bucks is nothing to scoff at, $60 isn’t my cup of tea. 5

Games: Same as you; loved games when younger, not so much as gotten older. 2

Anime Music: It comes and goes. I have a lot I like, so I don’t listen to music that much, but there are some good and great tracks that I like. 3.5

Buying/Collecting: I usually buy Manga every month. But since I’m in college, I try to buy one or two manga every paycheck (yes I have a job), so usually every two weeks. 5

Anime Conventions: It’s more like I have to go rather than not go if I can. That’s how much I enjoy Cons. 5

Japanese Culture: I’m taking Japanese. 4.5

    AMVs: Hate AMVs. 1

    Doujinshi: Eh….1.5

    Fansubbing: No… 1

    Cosplay: I don’t cosplay, I just take pictures…3.5

Other Animation: Probably not, aside from old cartoons. 2

Fandom of Specific Titles: Hmm, probably not a very big fan of specific Anime Titles, though the sheniganians of Gintama might force me to. But I would say I’m a very big Golden Sun and Fire Emblem Fan (Have all the games released in America)

So yeah, I think that’s it. Probably.

  6. Yumeka says:

    @ Justin

Hmm, looks like the only branches we share are fan art, conventions, buying/collecting, and Japanese language/culture. But it’s all good. Maybe I’ll get back into manga one day =P

I don’t think I know a single fan who doesn’t have at least one specific anime they would consider themselves a fan of (in addition to a general anime fan). Looks like you came close but Gintama wouldn’t let you XD

  7. Valence says:

I find it slightly amusing that under your branches of ‘anime fandom’, actually watching any anime at all is not included as an option. Some people just watch a lot of anime, and it stops there. Does that mean they’re not fans? No.

  8. Yumeka says:

    @ Valence

I don’t consider watching anime as a branch of the fandom since it’s sort of a prerequisite to be a fan – could someone be a fan of anime if they don’t watch anime?

But I don’t mean that you can’t be a fan if you only watch anime and nothing else, it’s just unusual. All of the many anime fans I’ve met over the years are part of at least one of the branches. If they’re not, then they’re usually just a casual anime fan, at least from my experience. But naturally they can still be a true fan just by watching.

  9. chikorita157 says:

    @Yumeka
Well, I never took a look at them… but then again, the entry price of getting in could be high… so yeah, I probably need a summer job or internship related to my major just to go.

  10. f0calizer says:

Would starting or being an active member of an anime club be another branch of fandom? I’ve heard that IRL clubs are on the decline, though, since so many anime fans watch things on their own and socialize through the internet.

I like manga as much as I like anime, because there are some lovely manga titles that don’t get made into anime (like Kingyo Used Books, Gundam Ecole du Ciel, etc.). I’m very picky about actually buying manga, though, so I browse a lot in bookstores.

I won’t post here about anime songs since we’ve talked about this several times in other contexts =). I do like AMVs that are in the comedy or action/upbeat genre, but it’s been many years since I’ve actually sat through an AMV contest screening at convention mainly because it takes a long time just to get into the event, and the quality is hit or miss. Like you, I prefer to wait for the winners to be announced and then watch them online.

Anime conventions — from now on I’m going to limit myself to the West Coast conventions, although I’ve attended Anime Boston, Otakon, Anime Central thanks to my previous states of residence. As I told you the other day, I’m a bit weary of cons as the fandom gets younger and more “hyper,” but I’m always happy to go to a fun panel, special guest concerts, and check out the dealers’ room. I’ve been going to cons on my own for some time, but I really ought to become less anti-social and meet up with friends. =)

I’ve cosplayed a grand total of 2 times: once as a Library Wars officer and once as Sega Black Ops Dom from the webcomic Megatokyo. That’s all in the past, though, since it takes way too much time and energy to put a decent costume together. And hardly anyone recognizes such obscure characters anyway.

Other forms of animation — I enjoy Family Guy and Futurama and Avatar the Last Airbender. I wouldn’t say I’m a big fan of them, but I always crack up at Family Guy’s oddball humor a lot. What US animated series lack are good soundtracks!

  11. Yumeka says:

    @ f0calizer

I suppose anime clubs could be another branch, perhaps under “miscellaneous” because they’re usually just for students (and some dedicated alumni) and aren’t as prominent as the other branches. I was fortunate that my university has an excellent anime club, and at least my high school had an anime club too, though it was pretty disorganized =P

If I cosplayed, I wouldn’t want to be a common character like Naruto or Edward Elric, nor a really obscure character that no one would recognize. I’d have to find a character in between ^^,,, But yeah, out of the seven times I’ve gone to an anime con, there was never a time where I didn’t meet at least a few friends there. It’s one of the few opportunities I have to meet up with friends in real life and be around people who share the same interests as me.

  12. Jan S. says:

You forgot that highly specialized niche – “Grey Market Anime Posters That You Buy in the Dealer’s Room.” ;)

I bought a whole load of anime posters at cons when I was a new fan. One day, I looked at them on my walls and realized that basically none of them were licensed. They all had that slightly “off” look, as in, someone in China spent all night cranking them out… The only “real” anime posters I have are the pages torn from my official, bought-at-Kinokuniya-for-$27 yearly calendars from Japan for Saiyuki (2009) and The Prince of Tennis (2010).

… So… buying grey market anime posters would be a “5” for me, I guess. ;)

  13. Yumeka says:

    @ Jan

Heh, yeah, posters would go under “Buying/collecting” for character goods I guess. But I know the kind you’re talking about as I have a few of my own =P The way you can tell that they’re unofficial is that they’re usually laminated, mass produced, and lack the insignia of the official companies (instead there’s usually some weird number in the corner). You can also tell by what picture are on the posters, for example, I saw some that copied the images from one of the Inuyasha calendars but edited out the part that showed the days of each month.

They can be nice posters to buy for good prices, it just kinda sucks knowing that they’re technically pirated.

  14. Aorii says:

You forgot Visual Novels (which gets a completely separate audience from regular games like JRPGs) and Light Novels… I am offended :P

Vocaloids/iM@S funs form basically a major subcategory of their own given the huge anime-music-making community (which is probably bigger than AMV one)

  15. Yumeka says:

    @ Aorii

You’re right, light and visual novels should be in the “smaller branches” category. My bad for not thinking of them =P I’m a big fan of the Haruhi light novels!

I don’t know much about Vocaloid/iM@S funs, but if they’re as big as you say, then yeah, give them their own branch too XD

  16. Also needs to include people who take anime tunes and put their own spins off of it, either transcribing existing stuff over to piano or glomming it all into an orchestral effort like Jeremy Robson did that one time for a piece from Evangelion. Yeah, the population that actually engages in this sort of activity is really really small, but I enjoy their efforts because not many are actually doing it, and the stuff they churn out is actually pretty good if there’s an editorial process to back it up.

  17. Yumeka says:

    @ zzeroparticle

Ah, that’s a good anime-related activity that I’ve only just started to take notice of. Perhaps it could be in a “miscellaneous” branch for now and then have its own once it gets bigger (or be a sub-branch of “anime music”).

  18. Reiko says:

Very interesting post. ^^ I guess I never really looked at these things this way.

Fan Art: 3.5 – I haven’t really drawn TONS of fanart or anything, but I have drawn quite a bit. I find it fun to see how close I can get my pictures to look like the actual characters. ^^.

Fan Fiction: 1 – I’ve read a few fanfics that people have made and tried once to make some of my own, but I just never took a liking to it. =P

Blogging/Running a Site: 3 – One thing I’d love to do, if only I had the time. I don’t have a blog like yours or anything, but I’ve tried to make a few light blog posts on my little blog on Myanimelist. XD

Manga: 5 – Wow, I’m surprised to hear that you don’t really read manga that much, Yumeka! ^^ I really enjoy manga, just about the same as I do anime. I don’t mind reading manga online, however I do prefer reading the actual book, only because it’s something that I am able to do in my free time during school. :3

Games: 3.5 – I’m not really much into videogames anymore, though I still play a few. ^^ I’m not sure if this would count in this category, but I also love visual novels! (even though I haven’t played very many XD)

Anime Music: 5 – Oh, an easy five! ^_~ I think anime music and other J-pop music is the only thing I really listen to these days. Anime music is just so much better than all of the other music that they’re making in the US these days. =P

Buying/Collecting: 4.5 – I don’t really buy things TOO often, however I do try and buy as much as I can. I mainly buy manga and DVDs from series that I really like, though I also have purchased other goods such as PVC figures, calendars, etc. ^^

Anime Conventions: 1 – Unfortunately I have not had any chances to go to any anime cons. I am in a section of the US where those kinds of things just don’t happen…-_-” NYC is about 7 hours away and that’s closest one…T^T

Japanese Culture: 5 – The whole reason I got into anime. ^^ I’ve loved Japanese culture ever since I was little and just began studying it and the Japanese language about two years ago.

AMVs: 2.5 – There was a period of time for me where I was very much into AMVs, but for some reason, I’ve lost interest. YouTube keeps deleting all of my favorite AMVs and I just don’t feel like looking for new ones anytime soon…

Doujinshi: 1 – I honestly can’t stand doujinshi, mainly because it takes all of my favorite anime characters and turns their whole world upside down by have yuri and mainly yaoi go on…-_-

    Fansubbing: 1 – This just doesn’t happen with me…-_-”

Cosplay: 2 – I don’t cosplay, but I must say that it piques my interest and I’d like to try it someday like you. ^^

Other Animation: 2.5 – I love old cartoons! ^^ I used to waking up and watching shows like Animaniacs, Sonic, Mickey Mouse, and other old shows on Disney Channel, Fox Kids, and Nickelodeon. Unfortunately, all of these shows have practically disappeared from TV these days and have been replaced by gross and vulgar cartoons full of fart jokes and the like…-_-

Fandom of Specific Titles: I fangirl over the Hetalia series a lot XD (not in a yaoi fangirl sort of way, just as a lover for the series ^^) I also love the Vocaloids and listen to many of their songs and watch many videos focusing on them. :3

    So in general….

    5. Games
    4. Buying/collecting
    3. Anime music
    2. Manga
    1. Japanese language/culture

  19. Yumeka says:

    @ Reiko

I’m totally with you on Japanese culture, other animation, buying/collecting, fan fiction, doujinshi, and anime music.

If you ever want to get into AMVs, I would recommend looking them up on AnimeMusicVideos.org rather than YouTube. You can see them organized by the top rated ones so you don’t have to search through many mediocre ones in order to find the good stuff. And they don’t get deleted XD

Coincidentally with visual novels, Aorii, one of the commenters above, thinks they should have their own branch since they attract a different clientele than regular video games.

LOL, I like Hetalia but I’m definitely not a fan. The only two series I would undoubtedly call myself a fan of at this time are Pokemon and Haruhi.

  20. Shadowapple says:

This is interesting, I will put my two dozen cents in.
Fan-Art. 2.5 I enjoy looking at the odd fan art, depending on the quality and context of the picture.
Fan-Fiction 4.5 Oh yes! I love reading in general and when I run out of books (or the money to buy books) I log on to fan-fiction.net and read a few dozen of the better written ones. I am actually writing my own fan-fiction as a hobby, I haven’t posted it yet though until it is a few chapters larger.
Blogging 3 I definetly do this, when I see an interesting post or blog (like this one) I must put my two cents in.
Manga 5 Oh yes, nowadays I don’t have the time to watch as much anime as I do anymore, but manga easily lets me keep my interest and still have time to do all the things I have to do in the day.
Games 2.5 I have played the pokemon games, they are pretty damn good in my opinion. But I don’t play video games as much anymore.
Anime Music 4 I seriously enjoy anime music and have many playlists of it, I like listening to it (Mixed in with pretty much every other music genre save rap) while I do all the other stuff I have to do that day.
Buying/Collecting 1.5 I can’t afford to do that. I pick up a few manga volumes when I go on my bi-monthly book binge, or maybe pick up a DVD boxset on sale. But other than that no.
Anime Conventions 1 I would LOVE to go to a convention but the only one I know of is once a year at a time I can’t go and several hundred miles away.
Japanese Language/Culture 4 Oh yes I have been learning Japanese on and off for a long time now. I also enjoy the culture of Japan and most of the east actually as I am facinated by the myriad differences and similarities to our own culture.
AMV’s 3 Only the good ones.
Doujinshi 0 No, it is just plain weird.
Fansubbing/Fandubbing 4.5 I have never taken part with a fansubbing group before although I love their work (Keep it going guys we appreciate your efforts!) I DO however take part in Fandubbs, It is one of my many hobbies, and I enjoy it immensely.
Cosplay 2 Again I would love to do this but I wouldn’t know how to begin.
Other animations 3 If you count stuff from Studio Ghibli and the old disney movies (Most of the new ones are just plain crap) then yes.
Fandoms 2.5 I am not a big fanatic of specific anime’s per se but I do heavily enjoy Baccano! and Code Geass. There are others I heavily enjoy but those are the ones that pop out from the top of my head.
