I can’t say for sure, but I think this arc might finally be leading up to a conclusion for Kohaku and the last jewel shard. This chapter was a lot more exciting and interesting than most of the previous ones…we’re finally getting back on track with the aftermath of Kikyou’s final task of purifying Kohaku’s shard, and then purifying Naraku along with the rest of the Shikon Jewel. Chapter 494 gave us the idea that maybe Kagome will take on Kikyou’s task of protecting/purifying the Shikon Jewel and Kohaku’s shard, so perhaps in this arc she’ll do more than just give admonishments to everyone else =) I still can’t predict what Kohaku’s fate will be. Originally I thought Sesshoumaru would use Tenseiga to save him if Naraku removed his jewel shard, but that doesn’t seem likely anymore. I hope Takahashi-san doesn’t decide to kill off Kohaku too…that would really suck considering all that everyone’s gone through to try and save him. As I’ve stated before in my previous chapter reviews, I think that the Shikon Jewel will somehow eventually be completed, which will mean Kohaku’s death, so I don’t know how he’ll be saved. I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing that in the next few chapters.
There isn’t really too much else to say about this chapter. I’ll take a wild guess and say that next chapter, Sesshoumaru will come back and confront Naraku, while Inuyasha’s group battles Byakuya.
