With Inuyasha being my most favorite series of all, this is something that’s been on my mind for a while now. And now that all the episodes have aired on Adult Swim, I feel even more obliged to get my point across…
First, let me go back to about 3 to 4 years ago, when Inuyasha was enjoying pretty immense popularity in the US through its Adult Swim broadcast, Viz manga releases, as well as fansubs of the latest episodes. Then, a little over two years ago, the Inuyasha anime series ended in Japan at 167 episodes. Why? Because the anime had been caught up with the manga for a while, and rather than continue to make filler episodes, or their own version of the ending, the anime creators decided to just end the TV series and let fans continue with the story through the manga only. There may have been some good points in this decision, since filler episodes tend to be frowned upon by most fans, but I think it may have hurt Inuyasha’s popularity too, maybe even more than helped. I’m sure there were a ton of fans who only watched the anime episodes and weren’t familiar with the manga. So those fans were left hanging without any kind of a conclusion. Maybe some of the more dedicated ones tried to continue with the story through the manga, but I’m sure a lot just lost interest, since its usually harder to get the right manga scanlations than fansubs. While other series’ in similar situations, like Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece, make a ton of filler episodes, even if the filler episodes aren’t all that popular among major fans, they at least keep most fans watching and continually interested in the series until the episodes can get back on track with the manga. Unfortunately, Inuyasha didn’t get this chance, so I think the lack of an anime series for the past two years have contributed a lot to its declining popularity(though I think Inuyasha had some of the better filler episodes compared to other series’.)
So the anime series has been over for a while now, but at least the manga is ongoing, so we’ll still get to see our favorite characters in action, as well as the end of the series eventually. But I don’t know if it’s just me, but since the anime ended, the quality of the manga just hasn’t been as good as it used to be. Now Rumiko Takahashi is an excellent story writer and artist, and she has such a talent for making well developed and appealing characters. But I think it was around when the manga volumes hit the early 40s that the series just didn’t seem as enjoyable as before. I think it started after Inuyasha got the Dragon-Scaled Tessaiga. Yeah, Inuyasha getting a new attack for his sword was cool and something we hadn’t seen in a while. But then, for the next 5 or 6 volumes or so, that’s pretty much all that was going on…right after the Dragon-Scaled Tessaiga, it was the Flame Tessaiga(which he hasn’t even used yet), and then the Youketsu. So for all those volumes, all we got to see pretty much was Inuyasha beating up on and getting beaten up by lots of youkai, trying to get one new attack after another for Tessaiga, while the others just looked on(Kouga and Sesshoumaru also got into the “get a cool new attack” trend too =P) Around this time, we’re also introduced to Byakuya, used to replace Kagura as Naraku’s subordinate, though unfortunately, he’s not nearly as interesting a character as Kagura was. But seriously, I couldn’t help but think that those chapters were a bit boring, even for a major Inuyasha fan like myself. Though they did have some good chapters, as a whole, volumes 41 to 45 had none of the character development and overall interesting story quality that all the previous volumes have had. As for why, I can only guess. Maybe for the 4 years that the anime series had been going on, Takahashi-san started getting some sort of inspiration from it. And since the anime has been over for a couple of years now, maybe that lack of inspiration finally began affecting the manga. Or maybe Inuyasha’s declining popularity as a result of the anime ending has also affected her inspiration. Or maybe she’s just plain running out of ideas and is having trouble wrapping up all the series’ loose-ends. But actually, recently the manga quality has been getting better and out of the decline it was in. Around the chapters when Kikyo died was when it started getting a lot more interesting. Not that I was happy about Kikyo finally dying for good(I think there was a lot more for her to do in the story), but I finally started seeing the return of the quality character development and story plots from the old chapters. The next arc with Sesshomaru, though a bit abrupt so soon after Kikyo’s death, was also high on character development(but I still think his mother literally came way too out of the blue. If anything she should have made her appearance back when he got the new attack for Tenseiga.) As of now, it seems like Kanna is going to be the next character to die, though whether she’ll get any sort of character development is still unsure. The arc doesn’t seem to be anything that impressive yet, but I’m glad we’re finally seeing Inuyasha’s demon-side again(it’s seriously been way too long =P)
But even though the recent chapters of Inuyasha have been getting better, the manga was stuck in a rut for the past year or so, and that probably helped contribue to its popularity decline. Nowadays, except for the dedicated Inuyasha fans that continue to read the manga, I don’t really hear any hardcare anime fans talk about the series anymore. Naruto and Bleach are still hogging the spotlight for popular ongoing mainstream series. And why? Most likely because their TV series’ are still going on, even if they are filler episodes. Even One Piece, though not nearly as popular among non-Japanese fans compared to Naruto and Bleach, seems to have more of a fan following than Inuyasha, again probably due to the anime series still going on as well as the manga. So again this helps prove my point of why I think there should be a new Inuyasha anime if the series is to gain back any of the popularity it used to have among hardcore anime fans.
And lastly, probably one of the main reasons I think there should be a new TV series, is because of the fans of the Inuyasha English dub. I’m sure there are many fans who only watch the dub on Adult Swim or YTV and have never watched the Japanese version and/or read the manga. Some might not even be anime fans or might not even have any knowledge of the manga. They might not even know that Inuyasha is based on a manga series that’s still going on past where episode 167 ends. And so after watching the last episode, since it was pretty much just the anime version of manga chapter 355 and thus didn’t come to any sort of conclusion for the series, these fans are probably going to expect more new episodes to be shown, without knowing that in fact there aren’t any. So until the Japanese creators make a new Inuyasha anime, these fans are going to be left hanging for who knows how long and most likely will just lose interest. Some of the more dedicated ones who know about the manga might try and catch up on the chapters that continue where the anime left off, but as I said it’s a lot harder to get a hold of the right manga chapters as opposed to watching the series fansubbed or on TV, and I’m sure many fans of the English dub just don’t have the time, knowledge, or resources to catch up on the right manga chapters. I would say they could read Viz’s releases of the Inuyasha manga, but as of now the English volumes are about 10 volumes behind where the anime ended. So it’ll probably be over a year before the English manga even gets to where the episodes left off, much less catch up with the Japanese volumes. So now that all the English Inuyasha episodes have aired, unless more episodes are made, it’s pretty inevitable that the series is going to lose many of its non-Japanese fans.
Well, I hope I’ve made my point of why I think there should be a new Inuyasha anime series. There’s still a slight chance that this might happen, though no news of it so far. There’s more than enough manga material for it, but maybe the anime creators are waiting until the manga ends. But whatever the reason, if they’re going to make a new TV series, I hope it’s soon because the longer they wait, the harder it’s going to be to assemble all the old voice actors for both the English and Japanese versions(if they even intend to use the old ones) as well as retain the series’ steadily declining fan following. But I haven’t given up hope yet. Keep your fingers crossed Inu fans! =)
07/16/09 ANNOUNCEMENT: Well, almost three years after this post was made, a new Inuyasha TV series is going to air. Yes, anime versions of the final chapters of Inuyasha are scheduled to air this fall ’09! Now this popular post of mine can finally be put to rest ^_^
I agree with you completely. I have a really horrible computer so watching fansubs is a bit of a drag. Plus, I heard Youtube.com scoured the entire website and deleted any copyright violating material (AKA Fansubs). However, Inuyasha’s popularity isn’t as down as you think. I don’t know if it is because they went out of the Inuyasha ‘phase’ or something for a while, but some die-hard anime fans in my school started mentioning Inuyasha again. Yes, Naruto and Bleach are still major to them, but they have started talking about the other anime now. My friend just recently gotten into the ‘must-read-all-of-Rurouni-Kenshin-manga’ state of mind. My cousin and I never really ‘forget’ any anime series at all, so count on us for the support of Inuyasha! (Plus all those other anime maniacs that I know)

just the other day, i heard two of my friends say that they saw on net the continuation of inuyasha episodes. i’m not sure where it as from (they surf chinese-anime sites) and said that further inuyasha episodes were available for downloading. one of them was going to tell me the site, but the subs are in chinese, and i can’t read/follow up with it that well. still, i’m hoping to see further eps of TENNIS NO OUJISAMA!!!!!!!! WAAA!!!!!!! it was so sad when Echizen left for the u.s. opens and wasn’t able to attend the nationals!!! although the ovas are being made but that’s only seven or was it 13? more eps being made!!!!! AW! this is so upsetting!

But like you stated earlier, a good number of those filler eps did contribute to the downfall of IY’s success and Japanese fans were simply tuning out, showing not as much interest as they once were. However, if anyone’s to blame for the sudden pull of the show, it’s Sunrise studios. It is so obvious they wanted to retire it early, or at least put it on hold, since they wanted to focus on a much bigger franchise than anyone can imagine: “Gundam SEED Destiny”. GSD took over IY’s timeslot. Actually, that “timeslot” to this day holds a record for Sunrise, where every one of their shows that premieres on there is almost guaranteed to be a huge success. The ratings prove it. We should also not dismiss another series Sunrise was working very hard to promote. And that’s “Mai-Hime”. That show made its debut 2 weeks after the final episode of IY. Sunrise also had their new “Keroro Gunsou” comedy going on as well. That’s 3 shows Sunrise had airing on TV around October 2004. There was no possible way they were going to keep IY in the line-up. 4 shows would be considered “too much” for any studio to keep up with. Plus they were pretty much aware of its decline in ratings. I mean talk about déjà vu. It suffered the same fate as Takahashi’s other title, “Ranma 1/2” — where no official conclusion was met either. However an OVA did follow a year after. But that was like 3 episodes per year for four years (’93 – ’96).
I did see that last episode of Inuyasha last night. Tell you the truth, that was the first time I ever did see it. I’m almost certain an OVA will be released in the future. A new TV series is highly unlikely, knowing how Sunrise works. But this certainly isn’t the last IY animated project to be produced. There’s just no way.
Wow, you wrote a lot. I heard a person on youtube posted a commercial for Inuyasha Movie 5: The Final Confrontation, but since i didn’t see it ( it’s deledted now ) I don’t know whether it was real or fake. I also heard on a blog that Adult Swim is playing the 4th Inuyasha Movie sometime in December and Inuyasha might continue after the manga series ends, which supposed to be somewhere around chapter 500. I hope they do the same thing with Furuba because I love that anime soooooo much!!! Oh yeah, I saw an AMV ( I think ) with a part of an episode were it looked like Inuyasha was carrying Kikyo and Kagome was crying and there was soul stealers, that’s what happened in the manga right? So there is still hope! Just call me the barer of good hope. Now where was I? Oh yes, now about Fruits Basket……
I live in America, and last night was the first airing of the final episode, and I have to say, I completely agree. There needs to be more; especially for those who don’t have any way to access the manga. I have a way, and intend to follow up on it, but I would love to see it on TV again (sooner rather than later). You make excellent arguments, and you have my support!

No it didn’t. GSD took over Fullmetal Alchemist’s Saturday night time slot. After that, Blood+ filled the slot. It is not exclusively a Sunrise slot at all, and it’s also not the highest rated night of anime. That would generally be the one hour Monday night block IY aired in.
“InuYasha” aired on Monday during the YTV hour right before Detective Conan. The show that took it’s place (at least for a while) was a remake of ‘Blackjack.’

Three years back when I was 15, the local anime station [YTV]
began the English dub of InuYasha.
Two episodes in a row, and I just happened to tune in.
The opening enchanted me.
I’m a bit of a fanatic when obsessed with something,
so by day 2 I was downloading the first of the subbed-anime,
finding the English manga and fansubbed-English manga, and downloading Chinese scans.
[Downloading the anime was tiring with a 56-k but manga speeds were decent].
Over the weeks I went seeking artbooks and such
and finding great fanfiction and websites… I’d loved [blessed be her departed soul]
Kristine Batey’s Hero21 comic and her awesome fanfiction]
I read the English manga while following Chris’s translation until I hit the fansubs.
Heck, I even made a website that’s still active today.
For most of my trip, I loved the manga more than the anime.
I’m not good at following action scenes…[Took me a bit to know who’s fighting who in V. of Escaflowne]
and Sesshoumaru’s character was more developed.
I really did enjoy the manga but the first dropoff for me was chapter 393.
I still do download [usually 2 different fansub groups] the manga but haven’t read much since chapter 458.
Just… slowly reading and breaking for now ^^;
Movie 4 did have some great scenes but wasn’t quite as enchanting in plot.
I did stream into Rumiko’s Fire Tripper [and the anime short]
and fell for more of her works.
I agree about the show and I have no way of getting the manga any time soon, so I have no clue what is going on(Yeah, I suck) But for now I’m writing a fanfic that start’s where the show left off. It is gonna be way different from the manga, But I think it’s gonna be good anyway, lol.

Potential spoiler i guess. so you’ve been warned.
there was a clip I had downloaded called inuyasha: the last episode. It was in japanese though and I didn’t understand anything that was said.
But the images went like thus: everyone is on or around this temple/building rooftop. Kikyo gives the completed shikon jewel to naraku. and everyone is all WTF? and tries to stop her. and naraku laughs all evil-like etc. and huge power surges and blah blah. and then kikyo throws herself at him and like burst into flames or something weird like that and sacrifices herself to destroy naraku forever.
then kagome and inuyasha are left standing on the ledge together as the sky brightens up.
now I have never seen this in any of the 167 episodes that I watched on tv. and the last episode certainly didn’t end that way so I want to know how totally out of whack this is. I know the clip was out there. So why isn’t the tv show have episodes that lead up to that point? I”m just so confused. That’s why i always had a hard time accepting ep:167 as the last since I had this scene in my mind as the final episode.
if anyone else has heard or seen this please confirm. so I know im not the only one and completely crazy….

I’ve heard about that “Inuyasha – the last episode” you mentioned, though I’ve never actually seen it. But from what you described, the events that happened in it are nothing like what happened in the manga, so I have doubts as to whether it’s an “official” video or something that some fans made up in order to get other IY fans riled up. I also once heard about a lost “5th Inuyasha movie” that was supposed to be made, but was cancelled. Perhaps this “last episode” video is made up of scenes from a trailer of the movie that was never actually released ~_^ Who knows. But if you remember where you downloaded that “last episode” video, send it to me. I’d like to see for myself exactly what it is…
And if anybody else has more info about this, please let us know ^_^
im a begining fan of inuyasha and i was woundering if anyone knew where to get episodes 23-167 in english dub. i think i have an adiction to the anime series. but thats ok. please if anyone can help me find those episodes.

I am some-what disappointed with how it all ended. I have been a inuyasha fan since it first aired on adult-swim about 3-4 years ago. I didn’t really think it would be SO long. But some episodes were good but others were like “wtf”.. >..>; But I love the Show INuyasha and I am not giving up on there being more. I did see this show on Youtube and it was a preview of the 5th movie saying that the 5th movie ends the show. I’m not sure if there is a 5th movie but all we can do is hope there is. But I also heard that the show continues though the manga.. So I’m guessing it’s better to just download or buy all the manga’s… ^^

i tottaly agree. i wish they can make more episodes cause loads of people are big fans of inuyasha (including me) and they just left us thinking about what would happen.i have been wishing that their was one but im starting to lose interest but still im a big fan in waiting.im hoping they make a movie or more episodes.i beg of them.plzzzzz.
i know tell me about it really love inuyasha im a huge fan i finished the final act eps.26 last night at 12:00 pm i flipped out when they said there wasent going to be any more but that cant be true we are loyal fans and i will wait ancously every day and night for the rest of my life until they come out with more episodes or until i find more well at least inuyasha didnt fall off the face of the earth at season two like mermaid melody did i was so sad i cryed i thought sara fell of the face of the earth they threw her in for like the last two minuts then every one got thrown off the face of the earth.. and there was only two seasons of it and im like OMG thats sad that they only had two seasons of it but i will remain forever loyal and wait for the rest of my life for inuyasha to come out with more episodes if u know of any more episodes besides the final act episode 26 please let me know what the name is and where i can find it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have been inuyasha’s fan sinces i started wacthing it.its my favourite japanese anime out of all the ones i wacthed.(its true).i really dont want inuyasha to end on the 5th movie.although their was a rumor saying that it will end then.i really want inuyasha to choose kagome instead of kikyo. if inuyasha chooses kikyo im gonna flip out.cause i dont like the main boy bieng with the not main girl kikyo.kagome rules!!! shes more beautiful and feminene if u ask me.
i agree kagome is way better than kikiyo ever was but in the tv series Naraku kills kikiyo and he kills Kanna And Kagura to i am so pissed off at naraku im glad inuyasha and the others finally killed that bastered im sick of him….i so had to laugh when i saw someone on youtube made a video of naraku with the ugly barbie girl song lol i laughed so hard at that…. :< kanna was my favorite character and he killed her too. i cried when he killed her and kagura i was so sad… kikiyo had a sad death to i miss the depressed kanna though i know how she felt im always depressed to because i also lost everything i had worth living for exept my dog lady and my guinea pig candy and i`ll lose both of them in about four years so i know how she felt. i guess i liked her the most because she reminded me so much of my self and reminded me why im so depressed myself. i really didnt know for the longest time…i cried when she said that naraku took everything she was ther for away from her :< but yeah inuyasha ends up marrying kagome on the tv show so dont worry about it i was pissed though he always made kagome cry just because he always liked kikiyo more oh well at least he`s not as bad as miroku is. id have to kill him for being a womenizer and a pervert.

Yeah I agree with you all. It seems that this series suffered the same fate as Ranma 1/2 but at least this is getting somewhere unlike Ranma where both the anime and manga ended in a not so desireable way. I think we should vote to have Ranma to be reanimated with a better conclusion along with Inuyasha. I am too hoping there will be more of these two anime. Though it may seem rather unlikely we can continue to hope and support it. Well I hope Takahashi and the relevent people sees this.

I totally agree with you, and I still do hold on to that small shred of hope that this series will at the very least get an OVA. I also agree that the manga has been deteriorating in plot and quality as well. I had hope when Sessmom showed up, but unfortunately we’re back to kool sords go smash and little/bad characterization for the characters. *le sigh*
But a part of my hope for more animation comes from a recent poll in Japan done by a TV station of watchers and what they considered to be the top 100 anime series of all time. And IY ranked #20. That’s pretty dang high and keeps that flicker of hope alive.
There is still a strong fanbase in Japan, Asia as well as the US, I just hope they don’t wait until even more people lose interest. Ending the anime was probably the most damaging thing they could have done. People can say what they want about filler, but it does hold fans and keep interest. Look no further than Naruto and a solid two years of filler, only to come back and have a squeeing mob of fans jumping on the new canon.

Second of all, for those of you getting excited about the 5th movie, I don’t believe that there is even a 5th movie in existence. I have never seen any official source that confirms it…I have never seen any Inuyasha animation beyond the 167 episodes and 4 movies. As I stated in my previous comment, I heard rumors that a 5th was being considered at one time, but it never went through. So unless someone can present some official, convincing evidence about this 5th movie, such as screenshots or news from a reliable site, I think that as of now there is still no news of any new Inuyasha animation.

I watched Inuyasha not from the very beginning because I thought god how stupid! But after watching a few I bought all the English episodes I could get. Plus all four movies. Not to brag but I love that show and I can’t believe the creator would let all the fans down like that! I even bought a game and the first manga. It’s hard to get into the manga because it takes so long to read it all but if that’s how I am going to find out what happens to be it. There is still a lot of die hard fans of InuYasha out there. There is a petition you can sign to hopefully get more episodes in the future. *fingers crossed!* Plus a lot of people still write fan fictions. I can’t wait to find out what happens in the end. I wish they would do like Dragon Ball Z and continue making more great episodes. Like after they complete the jewel shard find out if Rin and Sesshomaru get together when she grows up. *A lot of us hope!* or What FINALLY happens to Kikyo and Inuyasha?
I totally agree! there should be more anime made for the magna that continued after episode 167. Im from the US and its extremely hard to get ahold of the magna for this Series. I only wish sometime in the future they will make more episodes for us that love the show but do not know what happens after it STOPED not ended. I have heard of a 5th movie coming out for IY but like others have said before, there is no hard core fact that this is tru :( never the less i love this anime it is definatly one of the most compelling of the ones i have watched. it just hooks you in and makes you want to know what happens next. and the character development is amazing!!! i mean in a weird way one can almost relate to inuyasha in a metaphorical sense. hes feared and rejected by humans that he kills himself to protect but looked down upon and ridiculed by full demons and proves them wrong by kicking their a$$ . idk its jus a awsome show and i hope someone out there realizes how special it is and brings it back. there are alot of fans still left but are on the edge of their seat waiting for ANYTHING that comes out for inuyasha and considering we dont know wha happens next without looking at the manga, which we cant get. just cant w8 till someone does something with this show and hopefully sooner than later. I really hope that they pick up the episodes again, I mean there is more than enough manga material for new episodes. Don’t get me wrong another movie coming out would be great, but in all honesty I don’t think it should end the series. How do you capture and wrap up all the loose-ends and story lines from all the manga after ep. 167 in 1 movie?
Especially for me because I live in the US the manga is hard to get a hold of, and I love InuYasha, so it isn’t like I am not trying. IY is my favorite anime, so I really hope to see new episodes, and soon. Will it happen? I don’t know, but all I can hope for is I wake up one day to find news that there is.

Like I was saying before, there is so much story, and loose-ends that it just can’t be wrapped up in a single movie. The complexity of the shows characters is possible because of the amount of time and episodes. In one movie to you conclude it all. You just can’t. Simple as that. InuYasha needs to pick Kagome, well because it needs to happen. =P
Back on topic, I really really want to see the anime return. I really want to see it happen soon. Maybe they are waiting for the manga to end, but I know I don’t want the series to end in a movie, it just wouldn’t make any sense at all.

There is a lot of un answered questions left, and i just cant sit here and imagine of whats gonna happen. It’s for certain that Inuyasha will pick Kagome but, i want to see how, when, and where it all happenes, and the best way is the t.v. series.
Amen…perhaps someone needs come up with a petition or something so we can get a conclusion, cause honestly, I just don’t want to go throgh the trouble of getting 1001 mangas to get the conclusion. episode 167 is such a dissappointing ending for such a great T.V. Series. I’m sure there is enough support with the thousands of Inuyasha fans in North America to make such a venture profitable. I guess, in the meentime I’m just going to buy all the seasons and the DVD movies. I suppose if we all do that maybe some bean counter back in Japan might see enough demand for more.

I really agree with you. You make alot of good points. It’s very hard to get the manga, and I loved watching the anime, but now its gone and I’m not able to follow the storyline anymore. I hope they start making new episodes too. I support you 100%.

man this sucks, i just watched the rerun of inuyasha 14 minutes ago, im so sad that theres no more episodes, i would give anything for new episodes pay money whatever but o well i guess all we can do is wait till they dicide to tell us the conclusion, but hey does enybody know what the answer is from the creators of inuyasha, yes or no on them making new episodes, because no one seems to know for sure if they are or not going to make more epsisodes. i wish i had the phone number from this inuyasha creator and ask if they are makig more or not you all know to calm my nerves ????

I am a huge Inuyasha fan myself and I completely agree with everything you said. The T.V series was very disappointing and the good manga that comes after the eps aren’t in the US yet. I’m going to have to wait a long time. I wish to contact with sunrise studios so I can somehow, someway, talk them into bringing Inuyasha back!
Yes man I agree with you completely! I used to watch the new episodes every Sunday morning on Adult Swim until i just stopped watching TV completely. But I still followed the anime by watching it online and watching the movies. I’m not sure about the US version of episode 167 but even though i heard it was the final episode, i honestly didn’t believe it especially after I saw it until in the Japanese version they basically tell you to continue following the story in the manga. I was like “WDF!!” because they ended the show waaaay too abruptly and for a last episode, it seemed too much like a filler. I mean there wasn’t anything big solved like them killing Naraku or Inuyasha and Kagome kissing so after I saw it and realized it WAS the last, I was completely unsatisfied. I can say Inuyasha is my favorite anime of all time. I’ve been watching it for so long and it is so good with its complex story, dynamic characters and overall theme and style. It got me into watching other animes in the first place and every other anime I watch now, I compare it to Inuyasha. I really think they need to make more episodes of the anime so that people who can’t get the manga can follow it. And i also think that reading the manga doesn’t give the same experience as the anime does because there’s actual animation and voices. There are more than enough manga for the anime to start up with again because the show ended at volume 36 and now the mangas at lyk volume 50 or 51 or something. They could do a better job ending the anime with an OVA or a movie or even a couple more episodes (although I’m hoping and praying for them to just continue the anime for as long as the manga continues and they completely tie up all the loose ends). Well I can go on and on about this but to put it simply these are my wishes:
To see the Inuyasha anime come back and finish the story completely and i won’t b satisfied until Sango & Miroku finally get married, Inuyasha forgets about Kikyo and him and Kagome fall (openly) in love, Sesshomaru’s get his own girl and gets along with Inuyasha, the gang gets all the shard pieces, and Naraku finally dies for good, then they can end the anime =). Is that too much to ask for?
By the way, if you are a really big fan of Inuyasha or you just want to know more about the series (and manga), you can find out more about it on Wikipedia just to find out cool things about the series, characters, weapons and plot that you either dont realize at first, unsure of how to interpret or aren’t shown in the anime at all.
i didnt even hear of the magna until id researched on why the ainme had ended. but i dont know how to be able to read or even view the magna so ive sort of let that go and now im waiting on the episodes that have been rumored in japan to come back in about 2 years since they are still working on them, and itll take about 4 years to come to th US. this is just things ive read in research to see if any more news has come of all the angry anime watchers that are now down a favorite, and many are outraged because of the other VIZ MEDIA po. have kept going like bleach and use filler episodes until they have gotten the magna far enough that they can keep the episodes going again, and many think it is unfair to all the inu watchers that they have seemingly given up on the very still popular anime that people have just grinned and bared watching all of the re-runs. But in a theory of mine. my guess since its the second time they’ve shown the re-runs, from beginning to end, that AS is just goin to keep with that until they get new episodes, which will be a while. :(
I completly agree with this, Inuyasha was a great anime with a pretty good story plot, Let’s all hope that they do continue the anime as they did with the Mange series… Give naruto a try people! (that goes to those who haven’t seen it already) It’s a great anime aswell, I like it better than Inuyasha…

I just got into the series and immediately went out and bought all the Inuyasha DVDs and movies. I just finished watching them and in the end I was upset because it did not end. I think that they should make more TV episodes. It was a horrible thing they did to leave off the series at episode 167. There is no real conclusion. I wish there was some way that we could tell Viz to make more Inuyasha TV episodes. I just recently found out that there is a manga series so I will find them and keep up with the story. I just hope they make more TV episodes.
I really wish they would bring back Inuyasha because truthfully I can’t afford all the DVDs, movies, and mangas. I really want to see Sango and Miroku get married and have children and mostly defeat Narku.

I really hope inuyasha comes back i mean i have all the books thats shes made in english so fair but its not enough and i dont feel like waiting one year just for her to catch up!! maybe this is all a trick you know maybe she saw that people were not watching inuyasha as much as they used to, so she thought she’d freak us out by taking it off the air and making us think that was it and its over!! but out of know where she brings it back and people are all like OMG!!! the raitings will go up so much from there and people will be dieing to catch up on whats been going on!! if not i guess i have to go back to me plain and have random ass people act the plot out for me cuz if not my life is over inuyahsa have been like a blanket for me the thing that got me into wanting to write a story!! but i will jot give up hope and keep looking for a new inuyasha also the 5th movie iv been hearing about =)

i just recently got into inuyasha due to my boyfriend then it started over so i figured maybe it’s just a chance for me to start over and really understand but now it’s just continuing to start over and i’m getting pissed off. i really love that show it’s my favorite cartoon and i watch a lot of cartoon. i really hate that they can just do something like that just ending shows without a awesome ending. the ending of the last episode was great but it wasn’t to the point where it was just so awesome that it can just end without a warning. i’m just saying i want more of the triangles and love affairs and fights and tantrums i really love that show.

Inuyasha ROCKS! I have no doubt that they will continue the series in some way..even if it is OVA’s. I’m even going to write the sunrise people who made the anime to let them know there are still big fans out there who want closure.

Can someone please tell me how kikyo dies in the manga? i would really like to know what/who finally finishes her off! i’ve been waiting for her to be gone for a while now!

they have more than enough episodes to start the series again and would for a while if they didnt air a new episode in two pairs every day of the week. i found a site that includes all the summarys of the manga keep in mind there is no visualisation just what happened up to the current point of the manga. if they would start the series in japan now then buy the time we started getting them again the manga would be over and we would be able to see the series end.

I’m new to the series, but I absolutely love InuYasha! I stay up waiting for it, it’s kind of like the highlight of my day. I have no idea what a manga is so I can’t even follow the story! Anyone that says Inu and Kag and down with Kikyo ROCKS!! My only concern is that if they do defeat Naraku then what? Will InuYasha go and live in the present with Kagome? Couldn’t that ruin the past and mess up the future? Will they visit Miroku and Sango? I am a major inuyasha fanx100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000! After I saw episode 167 and saw that was the last episode, I started rolling on my floor crying out, WWWWHHHHHYYYYYY! I want to see what happens next. I’ve seen all the episodes, movies, and read the manga up to chapter 518. I have so many questions I need answered. I have heard about a 5th inuyasha movie. I hope its true. I just don’t want the movie to end the series though. Like what others think, I think they should keep going with the anime. I have been hearing that the movie was about them beating naraku and inuyasha has to pick between kikyo and kagome, and that kagome gets her soul sucked out and doesn’t get it back. I don’t know if it’s true though. Anyway, they need to continue the anime. If they don’t, I’m going to throw a tantrum. My opinion is that INUYASHA IS THE BEST SHOW EVER! I always stay up to watch it. It is also the show that keeps me happy. Yeah, so I really hope they continue it. It has been so long. I know alot of other inuyasha fans who want this to happen. no i think people lost intrest because the series hasn’t ended no showed signs of ending. Even if they continued with the episodes how many will they air before people get tired of that too. The difference between inuyasha and naruto or bleach is that those shows have intreting story lines while eveything in inuyasha is predictable. Even i who follow the manga, only read when something important is going on which is usually every 5 issues.

Okay first of all I am a die hard Inuyasha fan. I love this series with a passion and I do agree with you on all of your points. I mean I read the manga and everything else, but I just could not see why they finished the series that way, what a way to leave everyone hanging…ugh! Well if they are not going to finish the series right after finishing the manga hopefully this time without leaving another opening ending then they should show the ending of the series through a fifth movie and that is with Inuyasha and Kagome and everybody else finishing off Naraku and ending their search for the shikon jewel shards. Or they need to have at least one more season. This is the only anime show that I really have only loved, and to me the others like Naratu and Bleach are just plain stupid compared to it. Well that is just my opinion and I do agree again with what you said.

Man, Inuyasha is so awesome! I just can’t believe that episode 167 could be the last one to the series. It lasted for so many years and had so many fans worldwide, to just end it all like THAT?!? INSANITY I TELL YOU! Anyway, I hate to say it but, I highly doubt that there will be a continuation to the anime series. BUT I could easily believe that they would end it with a movie. The movie might be a little cram-packed though. If they made it the length of a normal movie it wouldn’t be so bad. I noticed that most, if not all the Inuyasha movies are about 45 mins to 1hour long. So, to make the last and final movie about 2 hours, and some odd minutes, that would be perfect! :)

All I have to say is if you say the fan numbers are not good? You’re wrong!!! Look @ all of these people who want you to continue the episodes!! If that doesnt tell you something than I don’t know what will! I work all day long but even though I am exhausted and really tired. I still stay up no matter what and rewatch all the episodes again and again. I never miss them! They are all I look forward to after I get off and around that time of the night!!! So please think about continuing them from where the manga picks up after the season ended!!! I know that it would be GREATLY appreciated and people would be very grateful!! I personally still love the show…i dont watch it anymore cuz im not much of a rerun person but it still will always be my fav anime…and i agree w/ what [[_*CELINE*_]] said about kagome and inuyasha. I think they make a awesome couple if they ever had the chance…i dont hate kikyou but im not exactly a fan of her and inuyasha. Them being friends is what i picture them as being. Also. my friends still love the anime, just wish something new would come on…or movies at least. Theres that rumor for one but i dont like rumors unless i c the actual thing but ive seen trailers and it looks good. Ne way they should put it on or at least come out with more mangas faster

I love Inuyasha alot and yeah I was realy mad when they stoped at episode 167 and didn’t make more new episodes, but instead of hoping they make new episodes,or hurting yourself trying to find or read the magmas,or assueming there a Inuyasha movie 5 out or coming uo why don’t we make thing happen by doing what we can to bring Inuyasha back because I’ll tell you one thing I got to see my baby SESSHOMARU again!!!!!!!

OMG! Have they really put brand new episodes out?. That would be sooo cool. Here in Hungary we only ever got to ep 104 and I never heard of the films here….we are so behind everyone! I did manage to see all of the episodes though, and the ending was a tad…hm…how do you say…TERRIBLE! And it left the scene wide open for someting more. It just could not have ended there! I really hope (this sounds sooo desperate!…I’m not honest :) ) that that wasn’t the end and more is on the way…I really hope so!
I feel htat there should be more episodes of InuYsha, because the viewers that may watch InuYasha don’t know if Naraku is still alive or dead. I was absolutely in love with Inuyasha on TV and I still am. But when I found out that they stopped making the series, I was so disappointed. I continued reading the manga aftwerwards and picked up where they left off, and it’s awesome. But when they stopped making the series, everything in manga get’s so good! It’s a hundred times more intense and more drama! Like things you wouldn’t even expect! But i’m not going to give anything away. I think if they make more episodes, there would be so many viewers watching Inuyasha.

I am a devoted InuYasha Fan Just Like Everyone here..When I found out InuYasha ended with ep 167 I was so Mad.. I wrote a letter to Viz Media inquiring about the new episodes that might be released in North America ,because I read somewhere online they had released 200 new Episodes in Japan..Unfortunitly I have Not recieved a response to my Letter..
Has anyone else heard about these episodes in Japan?

I do agree with everyones response to the ending of the T.V Series.. I feel that they wouldnt have profited nothing without the Fans and to Disappoint us with no ending especially the way they ended with episode 167 in the North American T.V series. I feel that they have done nothing to feed our ( The Fans) eagering urge for a real ending.. If you watch the Viz Production D.V.D of Episode 167 Kagome tells you to keep checking with Viz to see for new episodes. Then Kagome and InuYasha Proceed to say they will still be fighting till they beat Naraku and keep searching for the Shikon Jewel Shards..ect I cried..
I said “I can Not Believe that they would just end the series Like that..WTF”
I feel that was so Ignorant and Inconsiderate of them..
Hopefully they will hear the Cry for more and Bring InuYasha Back and Complete the series with a fulfilling ending to the Long Awaited Justice we all Deserve..

I first watched inuyasha about 3 years ago I believe and I fell in love wih the show. I agree with all of you who said that the show should be continued. I live in The Bahamas(yes it reached us) and my friends and I have no way of getting the manga. When I watced the last episode I must admit that I did cry. I could not and still can’t believe that they left so many unanswered questions. My friends were so angry when we heard that that was the final episode.
I absolutely love Inuyahsa its my all time favorite show and will always be. I just wish they would continue it. The post that said it say continue in 2010 I would be looking forward to that but I’m not getting my hopes up to much. If someone knows where I can read the official manga or get any updates from where the show left off please contact me. I’m watching the series for the 4th time now and I must admit I’m a bit desperate. I watched Naruto and although I enjoyed the show it still did not satisfy my crave.

Me and my sister have seen every single episode of inuyasha that they have in america.She hasn’t but iv’e read the manga and i want to see what i read on tv.Everytime they show an episode of inuyasha i know what it is from the beginning of the episode.Me and my sister are actually gonna go to japan without any doubt when we haveenough money and get a translater for us just so that we can buy and watch all the episodes of inuyasha that aren’t in america.It’s good for us though cause we get some sister bonding time,plus we’ve both wanted to go to japan for a long time so why not go together.anyways,it would be really awsome if you dubbed the inuyasha and put it in america.the manga has a great ending but on tv the endiing is way to simple.

I hope they make a new inuyasha season so badly. I had been a fan since it first aired on adultswim, I watched the first season and lost track of the series(it started appearing later and later and I couldn’t stay awake for it becaise I was like 9 =D) and I woke up at 11: 45 at night and saw it was still on and watched two episodes of the fifth season and then lost track of it once again. I Found out it was on at 6:00 am and started watching it so it would wake me up for school. I am now watching it at 11:00 pm on saturdays, it is still early in the series just wrapping up season one.I buy the books and trying to buy the seasons on dvd but it is very expensive and since i’m fourteen and do not have a job it’s a pain. I only have season one on dvd and volumes 1-10 and 12 of the dvd and books. I hope they make a new series for all the young fans who can’t really afford the merchandise.

I been searching and seaching, yet I can’t find that anywhere. Just a clip of it. I first saw that when I was ordering the first 126 episodes back in 2004 of my freshman year in highschool…and i just recently (last year, senior year) finished the anime. And I was so shocked that the anime ended the way it did. I really hope they do make more eps. (Aren’t I slow finishing it up?! XD, procrastination!!! And I still have 1-126 on official dvds, and 127-135 burnt dvd from a friend lol.) How much longer must they make us wait? >_

i love inuyasha so much, and your right, the decline in popularity is most likely cuz they stopped making eps. (allthough rumors about the new ova have been buzzin around like crazy…hmmm) i personly dont like naruto or bleach, i know many anime fans frown appond me for saying that but,i just dont. i do like the inuyasha manga, but around the middle i get kinda lost and bored but near the end it gets really good again. so yeah i know i just kinda repeated every thing you said, but i agree with you

I have been watching Inuyasha since it first started it’s air in America. personly I love the show but you are right without making more episodes the fans are loosing intrest. If they want to get the popularty back they should start creating new episodes to get the focus back on Inuyasha.
I, like so many others, completely agree with you. Ever since I discovered Inuyasha, and seen all the episodes of the story here in America, it has become my favorite. I’m a major Anime fan, and after watching Inuyasha for so long now, I know the characters well, and when it ended without and ending, it was upsetting to me. I would love for them to bring Inuyasha back, and continue the entire story as they should. I know others who love Inuyasha, and would also love to see this happen. It even upset me when “Cardcaptors” ended as well, and on top of that, America not even showing every episode! Ugh! Luckily, I caught up on them though, lol. I’ve also been to Fanfiction.net and read some Inuyasha fanfics, by a writer called “Abarero”. I loved them. Especially the “Bankotsu and Jakotsu” stories of The Band of Seven. I’d love it if they could even make episodes of their pasts. Anyway, like I said, I agree with you completely, and you have my support. Lets hope it happens. :)

I’m a very late-comer to Inuyasha (I haven’t finished watching it yet), but it sounds like the ending is going to dissapoint. I always find it a real shame when animes don’t continue. Just like with Fruits Basket, I would love to see a second series. To me I’d rather have a break from a series than having to watch an anime stuffed with fillers (grrr- I hate fillers). A break can be a good thing rather than a bad thing, and I’m sure there are still plently of Inuyasha fans out there (I still see people dressing up as Inuyasha characters at conventions).

The manga is complete now they should be able to complete the series its been since 2005 I have been waiting for the manga to end and to have the completed series in my grasps to watch.
When I was 10 my dad woke me up and I saw Inuyasha for the first time. I later told my mom to get me an alarm clock. I let my freinds watch it and they loved it as well.I hope Inuyasha will air again. I want to see that evil Naraku die.

I agree 100% that they ought to make a new Inuyasha anime. Especially now since the manga is complete However something that I think (and this would probably help with bringing the popularity back up as well) that they should continue where the anime left off.
So far from what ive heard they are continuing the anime series sometime in summer of 2009 but i dont know if its true ive seen a few websites that talk about it

The final act of Inuyasha was a little disappointing. Yes, I do like the ending, its funny and every sad but it let me hanging a little off my seat. I want to know more about: how is Kagome going back to her family and friends in the futal era? is Inuyasha and Kagome are thinking of having kids? Will Lord Sesshomaru show is true feelings to Rin? What is Shipo’s strength of his full fledged demon? How will Kkoga react with Kagome having children with Inuyasha? How are the children of Miroku and Sango? Is Miroku womanizing still? Is kohaku still visit his sister? How is Sota and the Kagome’s family?
I love Inuyasha…. I’ve been a fan since the moment they started to put the show on TV. I really want to see more of Inuyasha; even though, its “done” or “over”. I think that there is more than how they ended Inuyasha.
I think the TV show should keep going a little bit longer. There are many questions unanswered. I would love to see Kagome and Inuyasha going for another quest, maybe they go on to kill every demon on earth and while doing it Kagome gets cursed to live for “eternity” until every demon is dead. I’m just suggesting something like that because in modern times there are almost no demons and Inuyasha’s fans need to address that Kagome will keep aging like any normal human and Inuyasha will look young for decades.
Also, Kagome needs to show that she can take care of herself (come on! It is time for a strong and independent Kagome).
