Five improvements for the next generation of Pokemon games

Tomorrow, Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver will be released in the U.S., the last games of the current 4th generation. The next games to come out later this year will mark the beginning of Pokemon’s 5th generation, with new pokemon and new features. As I eagerly anticipate getting my copy of Soul Silver tomorrow, I’ve been thinking about some improvements I’d like to see in the upcoming 5th generation…

Nostalgia: remembering old school video games

Lately I’ve been indulging in the wonders of emulators – programs that allow you to play old video games from various consoles on your computer. Back in the 90s when I was a kid and before I knew about anime, I spent the majority of my free time engrossed in video games. And even to this day, thanks to emulators, I’ve discovered that I still love old school games, sometimes even more so than new games…

How long will Pokemon overcome transience?

The other day it was announced that new additions to the main series of Pokemon games are slated for a late 2010 release. These new games will feature the long-awaited 5th generation of new pokemon. Game review: Pokemon Platinum

Pokemon Platinum, the latest release in the line of Pokemon games and the third standard Pokemon RPG game on the Nintendo DS, following the incredibly successful Diamond and Pearl games. As with past generations of Pokemon games, once the new generation duo games are released, a third expansion version is made using the same basic story and gameplay but with a handful of new features. Platinum is the “extended version” of the Diamond and Pearl adventures, just like Yellow, Crystal, and Emerald were to their respective generations…

Game review: Kanji Sonomama Rakubiki Jiten

Although this is technically not an actual game, for anyone who’s trying to learn Japanese and who doesn’t have $200+ to spend on a real electronic Japanese dictionary, this “Japanese dictionary on a DS cartridge” is a great substitute. Sure, it doesn’t have quite as much as a real electronic dictionary, but until you’ve gone past at least an advanced level of Japanese, this little DS cartridge will definitely be a major help…
