The social experience of anime clubs and cons

For roughly my first three years of being an anime fan, I only had a couple of friends who shared my interest. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, my interest in anime started with my Pokemon obsession in middle school, which unfortunately my peers did not share in the least. Thus, I thought myself odd for loving Pokemon/anime so much, and the idea of any large group of people gathering together to talk and share in their common anime interest, was something I never thought could exist…

Off to AX 2010! (and come to the bloggers meet-up!)

Anime Expo 2010 begins today, but I won’t be heading out there until tomorrow morning to attend Day 2 and 3. I can’t afford all four days this year, but I’m glad I’m able to go to two. I’m very excited about AX ’10 because I haven’t been to any anime conventions since AX ’08.

Anime Expo 2008 coverage and photos

My autographed Lucky Star and Code Geass posters ^^

I got back from AX ’08 on Sunday and my coverage and photos of it are now posted! =) Even though I didn’t do too much at the con this year and there weren’t any exceptional events, I had a pretty good time and took lots of awesome cosplay photos! XD You can check out my full coverage and opinions, and nearly 50 photos/videos, on the main site here. Enjoy! I’ll be back with more posts soon =)

Off to AX!

Tomorrow I’m heading off for my four-day stay at Anime Expo 2008 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. To avoid the horrendous check-in lines of Day 1, I went to the LACC today, Day 0, to pick up my badge. So now with badge and suitcase in hand, I’m ready to head off early tomorrow morning for downtown LA. This is the first time the 16 year old con will be held in LA so it should definitely be an interesting experience. I’m sure many people who went to AX last year will agree that it was one of the most disorganized and possibly worst cons ever. So I’m giving AX the benefit of the doubt this year and hoping that they’ve learned from their mistakes in 2007 and will make this LA con a great one =)

Unlike AX ’07 where I spent most of my time at concerts or the dealers’ hall (or waiting in futile lines >_<), this year I plan to attend more workshops and panels (and possibly the AMV contest or Masquerade). However I usually get distracted by seeing friends or buying goods at the dealers' so I end up missing a lot of my planned panels =P But I'm hoping to be more diligent this year as there's a few panels that I'm really interested in. Anyway, I doubt I'll be on the Internet during AX so I won't be able to answer e-mail or moderate blog comments for the next four days. But you can definitely expect a lot of con coverage and photos when I get back! =D

Big update on AnimeYume.com (and savoring the final days of spring break)

I’m finally back with a big update on the main AnimeYume site! There’s new anime sections, new mp3s, coverage of Anime LA, and also some random spring cleaning on various pages. My spring break is going by way too quickly so hopefully I’ll have time to do at least one more site update (and maybe a blog post or two) before I have to head back to school on Monday and return my sites to hiatus. Anyway, check out the main AnimeYume site here to see what’s new. I’ll be back soon (hopefully with the special project I’ve been working on since December!)

Haruhi Desk Mat

*Click here for a larger image*

I don’t have time for a long post tonight, so I just thought I’d share something that all you Haruhi fans might be interested in. I bought this desk mat about a month ago at a little anime convention called Mikomicon. Not sure if it’s anything special or rare, but I like it ^_^ Like all the anime desk mats and pencil boards I buy, it’s way too pretty to be used for anything but to display as a poster in my room =P Anyway, the booth I bought it from had a few other Haruhi pencil boards, etc., but I thought this was the nicest one. It cost $25…was it worth it? I’ll let you decide. Oh, and if anyone can tell me what the roumaji at the bottom says, that would be appreciated(surprisingly, I can make out more of what’s written on the chalkboard and whiteboard ^^,,,)

Mikomicon coverage!

My coverage and some photos of the anime convention Mikomicon is up on the main site! ^_^ Check it out here. Enjoy!
