My 12 moments of anime for 2012

Since 2009 I’ve been participating in the anime blogsphere’s “12 Moments of Anime” project, which consists of us counting down our best anime-related moments of the year every day during the twelve days until Christmas. As usual, I prefer to list my twelve moments altogether in one post rather than split them over twelve posts. I know I’m doing my moments post earlier than usual this year, but that’s due to my new blogging schedule of only posting once a week and in the coming weeks I’m already planning to review some seasonal anime that are going to be ending. So, without further adieu, here are my 12 moments of anime for 2012…

Anime Expo 2012 coverage and photos

Yesterday I returned home from my 4-day stay at Anime Expo 2012. I had a fantastic time to say the least – I met up with a lot of cool people, went to great events, saw amazing cosplay, and bought lots of goodies! You can see my full coverage and photos of the con after the jump…

Tomorrow morning I’ll be heading off to Anime Expo for my 4-day stay at North America’s biggest anime convention (today I’ll be stopping by just to get my badge). This will be my sixth time going to AX and I always try to make each time better than the last =D I have a lot of friends I’m planning to see and fun events I’m planning to attend, so it should be a good one. You can see my tentative schedule for AX after the jump…

Your anime community

A carnival post from The Beautiful World brings up the interesting concept of anime communities. To me, such a community would be a place among a group of anime fans I enjoy being with, whether in person or online. There are all kinds of anime communities, the majority of which are online nowadays, as well as some fans who don’t have any desire for a community at all. Today I’d like to take a look at the different kinds of anime communities…

The present and future of the US anime industry

This past Saturday I spent the day at AnimeLA, a small anime convention about an hour’s commute from where I live. One of the panels involved discussing how technology has changed the US anime industry. That, together with the recent news of Bandai’s closing, got me thinking of exactly what the future holds for the US anime industry…

My 12 moments of anime for 2011

It’s now New Year’s Day here in the US, and like always, I want to do a “picks of the year” type post to celebrate. I started participating in the blogsphere’s annual “12 moments of anime” project in 2009. Since last year however, I’ve preferred to list my moments all in one post, unlike other bloggers who give each moment its own post. I usually reserve New Year’s to countdown my favorite anime of the year, but since I’ve already done that via The AniBloggers’ Choice Awards, I’ll be posting my 12 moments today instead. So, without further adieu, here are my 12 best anime-related moments of 2011…

AnimeYume’s 9-year anniversary (also, I’m off to Anime Expo)

June 30th, 2011, marks the 9-year anniversary of my domain name, AnimeYume.com, on which Mainichi Anime Yume is hosted. Each year it becomes more surprising than the last that I’ve been able to keep up a web site for so long…

My Anime Expo ’11 plans

We’re now two weeks away from Anime Expo, the largest North American anime convention that will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Although AX ’11 will only be my fifth AX, they’ve been my yearly highlights each time I’ve gone. The Anime Expo web site put up their schedule of events a few days ago, so now it’s time for me to get planning!…

Preliminary plans for Anime Expo ’11, and why we go to cons

Last night I preregistered for Anime Expo 2011 and booked a hotel for my stay there. Even though the con is still months away and hardly anything about its events is known yet, I can’t contain my excitement and am already making tentative plans in my head. It also got me thinking that, despite the fact that we all love anime, fans have a variety of reasons for why they go to conventions…
