Photos of my Frozen collection

If you’ve seen some of my tweets (or a couple of blog posts) during the past year, you’ll know that I’ve been obsessed with Disney’s hit movie, Frozen. I can always gauge how much I like something by how much money I’m driven to spend on it, and since I first saw Frozen, I’ve amassed quite a collection of merchandise that I’ve been wanting to share…

I originally wanted to have this post up on December 28th, since that would be exactly one year since I saw Frozen for the first time. But I decided that my anime seasonal reviews and top 5 of the year picks should take precedence. That ended up working out fine since I actually got a few more Frozen items as belated Christmas gifts that I can now add to the post XD It also turned out better that I took the photos over the course of a few days instead of trying to do it all in one day because that gave me time to remember some of the items that I forgot I even had.

Vaporeon figure

I know you’re wondering what the above photo of a Vaporeon figure I have means. Well, I decided to use him as my own personal watermark for all the photos, showing that all this stuff is actually mine and I didn’t just copy the photos from other sources (not that I thought that would be a problem, but I just felt like doing it XD) For the more detailed photos, I included a larger version that you can view by clicking on the smaller version. Guess that’s all for the preamble, lets get to the collection!

Frozen soundtrack

I’ll start with the very first Frozen item I bought, the soundtrack of course! It came with a nice little booklet with lyrics to all the songs (there’s also a deluxe version that includes all the deleted songs from the film. I never bought it but I have listened to the deleted songs).

Frozen artbooks

The English and Japanese artbooks. The English book has mostly “behind the scenes” stuff such as storyboards, concept art, and info from various staff members who worked on the film. The Japanese one is more of a guidebook that has chronological screenshots and summaries of events in the movie, with a decent amount of behind the scenes info too. Frozen is called アナと雪の女王(Anna and the Snow Queen) in Japan. The movie was a huge hit there as well and they’ve produced some very nice collectibles, so you’ll be seeing a lot of Japanese Frozen merchandise in my collection.

Frozen calendar

A 2015 Japanese Frozen calendar (Japan has several 2015 Frozen calendars, but I picked this one).

The back of the calendar, which shows all the pictures for each month.

Frozen necklaces

A couple of necklaces I got as gifts.

Frozen bags

Two little bags I found at this Korean/Japanese trinkets store in my local mall. They’re great for when I want to travel lightly, like when I go to amusement parks.

Frozen lithographs

The set of four lithographs + folder I received when I preordered Frozen on Blu-ray at The Disney Store. Just a bit of trivia that the scene on the left of Anna looking up at Elsa on the balcony was dropped from the final cut of the movie.

Frozen mini-bags

A couple of mini-reusable bags. The one on the left is from Subway’s promotion when the movie first came out (they’ve been doing promotions for Disney movies for years actually). The one on the right came from another Japanese store in my area. The Olaf thing in the middle is one of those picture cards that change when you move it at certain angles (forgot what they’re called). It came with the Subway bag.

Frozen keychains

Keychains.

Various things, mostly stuff I keep in my bag when I go out. Starting from the top left, the two rubber straps were imported from Japan via AmiAmi. They’re attached to my keys, which are hanging on the orange lanyard, while I used the black lanyard at this past Anime Expo to hold my badge. To the right of my keys are a couple of pens, a wallet, a mirror, and a pouch to hold things like credit cards or loose change.

This is the main bag I’ve been using for the past several months when I go out, as well as at school. I got it made via DisneyStore’s personalized items feature. The pins and keychains are from various conventions and stores.

Frozen keychain and pins

A closeup of the two pins and Olaf keychain on my bag.

Frozen fan and magnets

Random merch – two magnets and a fan.

Frozen pins

Pins from Disney’s official pin collection. The four round ones came as a set that I got at Disneyland.

Frozen plush

Plushies! Olaf and Sven were gifts from a friend while Anna and Elsa I got myself early last year when they were really hard to find.

Frozen posters

Posters I found at Toys R Us. If you’ve seen photos of my room, you know that my walls are already filled to the brim with anime posters, so I had trouble finding room for these! I have another brand new Frozen poster rolled up in my closet that I’ll hang up when/if I get the space!

To the left of the two big posters are these two smaller posters – the top one is a newspaper page I found for sale on ebay and decided to get (it’s from January of last year I believe, obviously before March when Frozen won both of those Academy Awards!) The bottom one is a fan art piece I bought at Anime Expo.

Frozen dolls

The Elsa and Anna dolls from Disney’s Classic Dolls series (they make these dolls for pretty much all the main characters from all their fairy tale/princess movies). Like the plushies, I bought these when Frozen was still in theaters and they were crazy hard to find. I actually bought the Elsa one for a hiked up price on Amazon because I couldn’t find it anywhere else for cheaper. Wish I’d known they’d be a lot easier to find now as there were tons of them available at Disneyland when I was just there in November.

Frozen figures

These figures go with the Disney Infinity game that’s available on various game consoles where you can play as different Disney characters when you buy their figures. I don’t have the game, I just liked the figures :3

Frozen bust

A nice bust figure of Elsa. There’s a matching Anna one I want to get too, just haven’t set aside the money for it yet.

Probably my most expensive single Frozen purchase, this is a limited edition figure from one of Disney’s collection series.

Frozen phone straps

These are exclusive phone straps that were only given to people in Japan who preordered tickets to see Frozen when it first came out in theaters there. Thus they’re not for sale at any stores, but I managed to come across a few people on ebay who got a hold of them and were selling them for reasonable prices. I actually bought two sets – the ones in the photo are in mint condition while I used the other ones on my phone for a while at my old job. I got so many comments and compliments when people noticed them, especially from kids of course.

Frozen BDs
*Click the image for a larger version*

The Japanese Blu-ray + DVD combo, the Japanese Blu-ray 3D, and the English Blu-ray + DVD combo. I really wanted to see Frozen in Japanese, so I imported it from CDJapan. They had a nice deal where you could buy both the Japanese regular Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D together for a good price. I found that a bit weird though since the Blu-ray 3D version hasn’t even been released in the US yet. The Japanese Blu-rays have both the English and Japanese audio tracks, as well as English and Japanese subtitles. The Japanese dub is pretty good and very well translated. Unfortunately I don’t have a Blu-ray 3D TV, but one of my friends does, so I took the Japanese Blu-ray 3D to her house one day and we watched it. It was really awesome seeing the movie in 3D!

Frozen lithograph

An exclusive lithograph I got at Disneyland in March of last year.

Frozen mugs

Water bottles and mugs.

Frozen blanket

A two-sided Olaf blanket my mom randomly bought for me last week. Too bad the weather will be warming up soon and it’ll be too hot to use it XD

Frozen ornament

An ornament I got at Disneyland. I think it’s supposed to be for a Christmas tree, but I’ve decided to hang it on my car’s rear-view mirror. One side has Elsa on it…

Frozen ornament

…and Anna’s on the other side.

Frozen reusable bags

Reusable bags. In many counties in California, supermarkets don’t provide plastic bags anymore and we have to bring our own. These bags have gotten lots of compliments XD

Frozen towel

A towel from DisneyStore. I could have gotten my name printed on it, but I didn’t want to be that dorky.

Frozen stickers
*Click the image for a larger version*

Stickers! The pack on the bottom left actually came with the Japanese 2015 calendar from earlier. They’re little stickers you put on the calendar to mark certain events, like a birthday or an appointment. The other three packs are Korean imports I got at a store in my local mall. I bought them months ago and have so far only found use for two stickers XD

Frozen storybook

This is the first of a series of Frozen chapter books that started releasing this year. I haven’t bought any other Frozen books besides the artbooks because they’re all made for little kids (the illustrations are usually nice, though). This series of books, however, is for older kids – it’s 124 pages with relatively few pictures. It’s still really easy reading, but enjoyable if you’re a fan XD I’ll probably get the #2 book in the series, which also came out this month. The third book is due out in March.

Frozen files

And to wrap things up, here’s a photo of the Frozen picture folder on my computer, which currently has 249 pictures at 153MB. It’s mostly fan art from pixiv and various other pictures from Tumblr, Facebook, etc., that I find and like. But yeah, that’s a collection in itself!

Items I’ve preordered that will be added to my collection soon:
Elsa and Anna mini-figures from Japan via AmiAmi. They’re supposed to come out later this month.
A limited edition figure of Elsa and Anna together. Comes out at the end of April.
– Good Smile’s Elsa nendoroid. Comes out at the end of May.

Items I want to add to my collection but haven’t put aside money for yet:
The Anna bust to match my Elsa one.
This Elsa figure from Disney’s Couture de Force collection series.
Elsa and Anna ice-skating dolls (the price on that site is hiked up from the original retail price, which is less than $30, obviously because they’re hard to find).
– One or more of the Frozen Limited Edition Dolls. Unfortunately I’ll likely never get these because, like all the dolls in Disney’s LE series, only 2500-5000 of them are ever made and preorders sell out even before release date. Sadly what a lot of people do is buy a bunch of the dolls at their retail price of $100 each and then resell them for exorbitant amounts on ebay – I once saw bids on one of the dolls reach $8000! Preorders for the first two LE dolls started in early November of 2013, before Frozen even hit the theaters, which I think is kinda stupid because people don’t even know if they like the movie enough yet to get the dolls. So of course by the time I got into the movie, the dolls were long gone. And the other two came out in March of last year, but unfortunately by the time I found out about preorders they were already sold out. Oh well…I guess I already have enough stuff in my collection XD And I think there’s going to be new LE dolls this year when Frozen Fever comes out.
– And there’s lots of other various Frozen merch from places like Hot Topic and Entertainment Earth that I want but haven’t gotten yet. But most of it is stuff that should be around for a while, so I can wait till I have the funds ;) Despite what people may think, there is quite a lot of Frozen merch available for adults (as you can see from my collection)…you just have to know where to look. I’m really not interested in getting every Frozen item out there, especially the things for little girls like the many toy play sets and beauty accessories. I only buy items that I can use or that I think are really nice. When will I cease being a Frozen fanatic, if ever? Who knows…

That’s a lot of Frozen stuff, you may as well be living in a fridge!! bada-bum!… Yeah, bad joke…

The vaporeon is also good to see the scale of the items, that bag is pretty big… I’ve never been big on collecting stuff. I used to move a lot when I was little, so I guess I got used to not having collections. You are going to need a bigger room if you want to keep collecting stuff. Congrats on the collection, looks nice :)

    • Yumeka says:

Yeah, I have too much stuff XD Luckily I’ve been living in the same house all my life…I don’t even want to think about what a job it’ll be to move everything to a new house 0_o I’m also a bit of a packrat and don’t like giving/throwing stuff away…but I’ve gotten better with that over the years XD

  2. jimmy says:

Sweet Jesus. You have more Frozen stuff than I have stuff.
