2010 AMV roundup

I haven’t been feeling well lately so I’m just gonna do a simple post today – rounding up some of the best AMVs I’ve come across in recent months, since it’s been about a year since my last AMV post

As with all of my posts that contain embedded YouTube videos, I apologize in advance if any of the below videos get deleted. You can find good quality versions of all of these AMVs on AnimeMusicVideos.org.

An AMV About TV by Re-Evolution
Featured anime: various

A hilarious, cleverly edited AMV that won 2nd place for Comedy at this past Otakon. It parodies many different anime series as if they were American TV shows/channels. So funny! XD

Betwixt and Between by Code
Featured anime: Toradora!

A good Toradora! AMV that uses a song by Taylor Swift which matches the show pretty well. Though it doesn’t match up perfectly (the song kind of twists Ryuji and Ami’s relationship) it’s a nice song and it uses some of the best Ryuji-Taiga-Ami scenes.

RAH HEY! by Ileia
Featured anime: various

An extremely clever AMV that uses the Green Day song “Know Your Enemy” for “Know Your Anime” XD It uses scenes from a whooping 134 different anime titles! Despite such a large amount, it edits them together with various settings such as Twitter, YouTube, Windows Live, etc., backgrounds so nothing seems too redundant. It’s also fun trying to identify all of the 134 titles and count how many times the creators inserted the text “know your anime,” or some variation of it, into the video =)

One by Nya-chan Productions
Featured anime: various

A short and sweet AMV with simple text and editing that creates a surprisingly impacting mood. Unfortunately viewing it on anything other than a large HD TV will make it lose much of its beauty.

Incubus by Radical Yue
Featured anime: Kara no Kyoukai

A beautiful and bitter Kara no Kyoukai AMV. Well edited and very entrancing.

Anime Loves You Always Forever by TerryH1984
Featured anime: various

A cute, pretty, and amazingly edited AMV that creates a very soothing, sentimental mood. According to the creator it was made “to commemorate all those whose lives have been inspired by anime, and who still love watching anime, or have out-grown it and ‘moving on’ with their lives.” The AMV won quite a few honors in Australia (where the creator is from I assume). It has a funny encore/omake video at the end too =)

AMV Hell 5 by various
Featured anime: various

And lastly, after three years since the disappointing AMV Hell 4, and thinking that there wouldn’t be another AMV Hell release, we now have AMV Hell 5! =D And I’m happy to report that it’s much better than 4. Not as good as 3, but still very funny, even for someone like me who doesn’t recognize a lot of its pop culture references XD As with past AMV Hells, this one has some scenes that are NSFW.

The above video is only the first seven and a half minutes of the hour and a half-long AMV, but the user has uploaded the rest of it in separate parts, and you can also get it from their web site here.

If you know of any other fantastic AMVs from this year, please feel free to share links in the comments section.

Enjoy the AMVs and hopefully I’ll be up to posting again later this week. I’ve had a terrible post-nasal cough for over two weeks now and yesterday I severely pulled a muscle in my side from coughing. I could barely move without excruciating pain yesterday, but both the cough and the muscle pain seem to be slightly better today. I’m drugged up on four different medications right now XP They’ve gotta kick this nasty bug out of my body soon.

No Comments… read them or add your own.

  1. Alvin B. says:

Thanks for the AMV’s… brought back memories of some good anime and inspired me to get back to watching regularly so I can find the ones I don’t know!

    • Yumeka says:

Yeah, I also love all the memories that come flowing back when I watch AMVs and see scenes from anime I’ve watched in the past =D

And glad I inspired you to get back to regular anime watching!

  2. Charles says:

That was the first AMV I’ve seen for Toradora, one of my most beloved series. And it was a terrific one! Thanks for sharing!

    • Yumeka says:

I can’t believe it took me over two years to find a good Toradora! AMV. But better late than never =) I’m sure I’ll come across a better one eventually if I just keep looking.

      Thanks for reading.

  3. Jan S. says:

That bug sounds nasty – hope you feel better soon! :0

    • Yumeka says:

Thanks for the well wishes! Despite this constant and often uncontrollable cough, I’ve been going to work everyday, since, strangely, I don’t have any other symptoms. Unfortunately I started getting the pain in my side on Thursday and then yesterday (Sat.) I aggravated it really bad to the point where I was literally disabled for a good twelve hours or so >_>

Thankfully I’m better today – the cough is very slowly getting less constant and now the pain in my side hurts only when I cough or move a certain way. I’m gonna take off work tomorrow and hopefully I’ll be better by Tues.

  4. f0calizer says:

Oh dear, that nasty cough is still with you? I hope you get better soon!

Thanks for posting these AMVs. I really enjoyed the first two and Anime Loves You Forever. I like how “Rah Hey!” is also a tribute to the art of AMV-making, especially when the creator lipsync-ed the faces in side windows of the movie-making software with the main vocals. The last one had really good editing and the encore was pure fun for Kannagi fans!

    • Yumeka says:

Thanks! As I told Jan above, this is a very stubborn bug but all the medication I’m taking is slowly pushing it out.

Yeah, the editing in Rah Hey! with its Twitter, YouTube, video-making software, etc., is incredibly well done. AMVs that pay homage to AMV-making are fun. There are a couple more that do so but in different ways than this one…I’ll have to show you sometime =)
