Happy New Year from Mainichi Anime Yume!

It is now midnight here in Los Angeles, which means 2010 has officially started!

2009 was quite an eventful year for me; I graduated university, went to Tokyo for the first time, got a unique part-time job, wrote way more blog posts than previous years, and I believe I watched more anime this year than any other. I’m still at that difficult stage in my life, having just graduated college and not sure what direction my life will be heading. Hopefully 2010 will bring new and good things for me =)

A lot of my fellow anime bloggers have not only been discussing their favorite anime of 2009, but also looking back at the decade of anime from 2000 to 2010, i.e., the best titles of the decade or reviewing the decade in general. Although I’ve seen a handful of 90s anime, I’ve only been an anime fan since 2000 and the majority of anime I’ve seen have been from this decade, so I don’t feel qualified to discuss the decade in comparison to others. But instead, since I have now been a fan for roughly ten years, I recently wrote an updated version of my anime autobiography to celebrate =D

Also, like I did last year with 2008, I will be discussing my favorite anime titles of 2009 on my next post.

Once again, 明けましておめでとうございます! Happy New Year! ^_^

    Happy new year!!

Well, we all do hope that 2010 will be a better year, especially for anime.

Ironically, this winter season anime list is a proof that anime industry started to decline. I didn’t mean to get the hope down by saying this, but i guess this is a warning for us otaku on how will anime industry in 2010.

Yes, I’ve heard a lot of pessimism by fans looking back on this past decade of anime. But I try to be optimistic; more anime has been coming out over the past few years than ever before, so quantity over quality has been prevailing. But there have been enough good anime coming to keep me interested. As for the bad economy and the fate of the industry itself? I agree things aren’t looking too good, but even if the worst happens and they stop making new anime, I still have a life-time’s worth to catch up on.
