Continuing with my 12 moments of anime for 2009 (in order of significance to me personally), here’s #5:
Out of all the 2009 anime I’ve watched, I don’t think any had me as engrossed as Toradora!. Especially in the second half of the series, I got so emotionally involved with the characters that each episode left me in suspense and begging for more. Their pain, sadness, anger, and insecurities touched me very much, even if some of it was a bit outrageous. By the end of the series, I knew each character so well and it was an emotionally exhausting but satisfying journey following their relationships and personal growth throughout the episodes.
I could go on about how great the character development and other things in Toradora! are, but I already discussed it thoroughly in my previous post on the first half of the series here and the second half here. I’m not saying it’s perfect, but for me it was simply one of the best romance/drama, character-driven, slice-of-life anime I’ve seen in a while.
