12 moments of anime 2009: #12 Canaan

My first time participating in the blogsphere’s traditional 12 moments of anime project. Looks like fun…

It was nostalgic reflecting on this past year and recalling certain anime-related things that especially touched, excited, or gratified me. But besides a few major items, 2009 was not a particularly big year for me in terms of noteworthy anime moments. I’ll admit that most of my 12 moments don’t sound particularly original (most of them are simply about good anime series I watched). But they’re special to me in their own way =)

Hopefully I’ll get all of my 12 moments posted before the end of the month. They’re going to be pretty short so I intend to write one every day or two amongst other posts. I have them all decided on already and they’re going to be in order of importance, with #1 being my most significant “anime moment” of the year.

So without further adieu, moment #12:

Twelve Anime Moments of 2009: #12: Canaan

I never watched a TYPE-MOON anime before, and right from the beginning of the first episode, Canaan totally blew me away. The animation was amazing, the action was suspenseful, the story was interesting, and the characters were intriguing. I looked forward to every new episode, and the 13 weeks this show was airing seemed to go by so fast. I’ve already written a full review of Canaan so I won’t go into details here. But I would definitely vote it as one of the best series of the year.

HOLY FUCKING NO. Then you must watch Fate Stay Night or Kara no Kyoukai now. And why the hell watch Canaan? That show is horrible.

Well, like I said in the post, I personally liked Canaan. I had some issues with the ending, but as a whole I thought it was good. I’ve heard great things about Fate Stay Night and Kara no Kyoukai so I’d like to check those out one of these days.
