15 favorite MAD movies

Following up on my last post about the 15 best AMVs, here are 15 (plus 2 extras) of my favorite MAD movies…

Just to note, I didn’t include any Caramelldansen or Hare Hare Yukai MADs here ’cause there’s just way too many! XD But if you want to see my favorites of those, you can find them on my YouTube channel.

I haven’t seen nearly as many MADs as I have AMVs so there’s probably a lot of good ones out there that are missing from my list here. Since I’m not fluent in Japanese I don’t usually watch MADs that require fluency in Japanese in order to understand them. And like with AMVs, I usually only watch MADs from anime that I’m familiar with. So if you want to share any other good MADs that aren’t on this post, feel free to leave a link in the comments section.

Unison MADs

Lucky Star w/Death Note opening

A classic MAD; the totally contrasting theme and style of Lucky Star and Death Note makes the video all the more humorous XD I think there are different versions of this MAD but this one seems to be the most prevalent.
———-

Geassgelion – Code Geass w/Evangelion opening

The Eva opening is one of the most popular for unison MADs so here’s the first of four that I’m posting…
———-

Ourangelion – Ouran Host Club w/Evangelion opening

———-

Luckygelion – Lucky Star w/Evangelion opening

———-

Haruhigelion – Haruhi w/Evangelion opening

———-

Yotsuba Daioh! – Yotsuba w/Azumanga Daioh opening

Since there’s no Yotsuba anime to work with, this video gets a plus for “animating” the manga characters ^^ Yotsuba is perfectly fitting with the AzuDai opening since they have the same creator and the same wacky humor ^^
———-

Mion-chan – Higurashi w/Azuki-chan opening

I’ve never seen Azuki-chan before but the original Higurashi animation in this video is so cute. The song is very catchy too XD
———-

Pikachu Dango Daikazoku – Pokemon w/Clannad ending

Overflowing cuteness here.
———-

Ouran Host Club w/Death Note opening

The Death Note opening is also very popular with MAD videos but this is one of the better ones XD
———-

Harumanga Daioh! Haruhi w/Azumanga Daioh opening

Gotta love Haruhi characters drawn in AzuDai style ^^
———-

Other MADs

Besides unison MADs I’m not really into all those random and just plain weird MADs that are all over Nico Nico Douga. But here are a few more universal ones that I like ^^,,,

Similarities of Higurashi openings

If you play the Higurashi Kai opening backwards, it sounds eerily like the first Higurashi opening 0_o
———-

Motteke! Sailor Fuku & Hare Hare Yukai

I know I said I wouldn’t include any Hare Hare Yukai videos but this one is different; this MAD is a very interesting “fusion” of Motteke! Sailor Fuku and Hare Hare Yukai together as almost one song. If anyone can find a good quality mp3 of this song… ^^,,,
———-

Haruhitrix

Matrix trailer using Haruhi scenes. Very awesome.
———-

Motteke! Sailor Fuku NES version

How would the Lucky Star opening look as an old NES game? XD
———-

Kyon and Haruhi’s Lost My Music

Excellent editing and choice of scenes in this one.
———-

Non-MADs

The following two videos technically aren’t MADs ’cause they’re not Japanese but they’re way too funny to pass up! XD

DeathSponge NotePants

Sponge Bob parody of Death Note. Hilarious!
———-

Casey & Friends

What would happen if 4Kids dubbed Higurashi?

  1. Mikoto says:

My person favorite is Haruhi + Megaman opening, although I like a lot of the ones you have here (especially the NGE + Haruhi parody).

I’ve seen the Spongebob + Death Note parody posted on another blog, and I peed my pants.

  2. Fujiwara says:

The Hare Hare Yukai/Motteke! Sailor Fuku combaines two of the catchiest songs known to man and combines them to reach the epitome of catchyness.

The Death Note Vids were hilarious, but I really hate that opening music.
    X_X

How did they do the NES Motteke! Sailor Fuku?

The NGE vids don’t appeal to me much. No idea why.

The the other Suzumiya Haruhi clips are amazing (With the exception of the one NGE parody mentioned earlier)

    No comment on the rest.
And I’m off to watch more Gurren Lagann!
