5 Centimeters per Second review

After hearing about and seeing images from 5 Centimeters per Second, I decided to sit down and watch it a few nights ago. And I’m glad I did take an hour out of my time for it because it is absolutely gorgeous…

First major summer site update

I spent this entire past weekend working on my first major summer update on the main AnimeYume.com site. And it turned out to be one of the biggest updates I’ve done in quite a while ^_^ First of all I added two new anime sections for Lucky Star and Code Geass. I also added YouTube videos to almost all the 28 anime sections. And of course, there’s a handful of new mp3s too. So check out the main site for a complete rundown of all the new stuff. I’ll be back here on the blog with more posts soon, and I should also have at least a couple more updates on the main site before summer break ends =)

Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu first impressions

I wasn’t planning on watching this series, but after reading the synopsis it sounded like a fun and unique story so I decided to give it a try…

World Destruction first impressions

World Destruction is the latest series by Production I.G., set for a 13 episode run. So far I’ve seen two episodes, and although I don’t have too much to say about it yet, it piqued my interest right away…

1,000 piece Haruhi Bunny Girls jigsaw puzzle

*Click the image for a larger version*

I bought this puzzle somewhere in the dealer’s hall at AX and I finally finished it today. It was definitely one of the hardest puzzles I’ve ever done, but it came out gorgeous so it was well worth it…

What is Anime? – the Visual Definition (take two)

Back in December of last year I began working on my first big anime video project. It’s not an AMV but rather it’s a movie-length compilation of 50 different anime openings along with information about each series. My intention was to use the project as a way to introduce non-anime fans to the variety of anime that exists without them having to take the time to watch a lot of episodes…

Slayers Revolution first impressions

After 10 years the long-awaited sequel to the third season of the Slayers anime has finally arrived. Slayers will always hold a special place in my heart not just because it’s a great series’ but because it was one of the first anime I really got into back in the early 2000s. There’s a handful of Slayers episodes that I think are some of the funniest anime episodes of all, and the series also has a great cast of characters and an interesting fantasy setting. It’s been years since I’ve watched Slayers (though I’ve watched all three seasons many times in the past), and after watching the first two episodes of Slayers Revolution, waves of nostalgia quickly came over me…

Anime Expo 2008 coverage and photos

My autographed Lucky Star and Code Geass posters ^^

I got back from AX ’08 on Sunday and my coverage and photos of it are now posted! =) Even though I didn’t do too much at the con this year and there weren’t any exceptional events, I had a pretty good time and took lots of awesome cosplay photos! XD You can check out my full coverage and opinions, and nearly 50 photos/videos, on the main site here. Enjoy! I’ll be back with more posts soon =)

Off to AX!

Tomorrow I’m heading off for my four-day stay at Anime Expo 2008 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. To avoid the horrendous check-in lines of Day 1, I went to the LACC today, Day 0, to pick up my badge. So now with badge and suitcase in hand, I’m ready to head off early tomorrow morning for downtown LA. This is the first time the 16 year old con will be held in LA so it should definitely be an interesting experience. I’m sure many people who went to AX last year will agree that it was one of the most disorganized and possibly worst cons ever. So I’m giving AX the benefit of the doubt this year and hoping that they’ve learned from their mistakes in 2007 and will make this LA con a great one =)

Unlike AX ’07 where I spent most of my time at concerts or the dealers’ hall (or waiting in futile lines >_<), this year I plan to attend more workshops and panels (and possibly the AMV contest or Masquerade). However I usually get distracted by seeing friends or buying goods at the dealers' so I end up missing a lot of my planned panels =P But I'm hoping to be more diligent this year as there's a few panels that I'm really interested in. Anyway, I doubt I'll be on the Internet during AX so I won't be able to answer e-mail or moderate blog comments for the next four days. But you can definitely expect a lot of con coverage and photos when I get back! =D
