Inuyasha ch. 501 – 502 review

Volume 51, chapter 501 Backflow, chapter 502 Proof

Had to double-up on the chapter reviews this time since I’ve been falling behind on them. Sorry, I’ve been really busy these past few days, not just with the new spring season of anime, but I’ve also been stressing out over what university I’ll be going to in the fall and getting all the necessary paperwork together. Well, don’t worry, it should all be taken care of soon, so I’ll still find time to do my posts =)

Anyway, I can sort of clump these two chapters together because they were, well, kind of boring. Just more battle chapters with the same old Inuyasha vs Sesshoumaru sword conflict which, as I’m sure I’ve made clear before, seriously needs to get resolved soon. 502 was exciting though because it threw a bunch of new revelations our way; is Inuyasha really going to gain the Meidou Zangetsuha? Will he end up absorbing Tenseiga as well, and thus Sesshoumaru will lose his trademark weapon? And what’s gonna happen to Inuyasha when he cuts through his own youketsu with the Dragon-Scaled Tessaiga? These are questions that came to mind, so I’ll be looking forward to seeing what happens in the next chapter.

The only other good thing about this arc so far is seeing full-youkai Inuyasha again. We did see him briefly not too long ago in the Kanna/mirror arc, but before then it had been a really long time. But this time and the last time, even though his face changed, Inuyasha still hasn’t lost control of himself…at least, not yet anyway. It’s probably because he’s still holding Tessaiga. LOL, I’m waiting for the day when he goes on a killing rampage again like he did all those volumes ago =P

Anyway, after these two chapters I sort of have a better idea as to what Sesshoumaru is trying to do by fighting Inuyasha. I think he wants to see if his father truly intended to have Inuyasha wield Tessaiga, and thus he wants to see if Inuyasha can control Tessaiga in its entirety, including conquering and absorbing the Tenseiga which, as we recently found out, was originally part of Tessaiga. Also, I think since Sesshoumaru found that out, he doesn’t have much interest in Tenseiga anymore. Now he seems to only want to use it to confirm his father’s intentions about Inuyasha and Tessiaga (which was why he threw Tenseiga away when he thought Inuyasha had been defeated). Well, this is just my interpretation up to this point so I’m not sure if it’s 100% correct. But it really makes me feel like we’ll finally be coming to a conclusion with Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru’s sibling rivalry =)

    Amen!
It’s coming to an end! No more boring Sesshomaru\Inuyasha~
They were usually pretty brief, and usually after a bigger more overwhelming chapter, but now it’s just… a whole arc of nothing… Just another sword technique. Don’t know if Inuyasha really needs ANOTHER one, he has so many already! 9____9
I seriously think that this should be faster.
But Sesshoumaru annoys me. He gave up on the only remain that his father gave him. I think you’re a little wrong there and throwing away Tenseiga was more to show his lost respect to his father. Seriously, I would be pretty pissed if my father that I grew up with would favor his son that he never even met, much more a defect (hanyou, in this case) child.
Okay, I’m rumbling. I hope Inuyasha will start losing control, too. He hadn’t killed anyone in a while, and this is getting pretty boring. This manga is lacking emotions, seriously. It used to get me excited at some parts, and cry the next, but now I’m just reading, unimpressed. Rumiko lost her touch, to my opinion :\
